Part-Time Executive Assistant

Hours: 10-15 hours per week. Pay: $20-23/hour; applications reviewed on a rolling basis with priority given to those submitted by September 29.

Founded in 2012, Gender Justice League is the state’s leading policy and advocacy organization focused on trans and gender-diverse people. We engage broadly in progressive coalition work, education, and leadership development. We are an explicitly trans feminist organization that is working to address racial, economic, disability, and social justice in our work and organization. Currently, Gender Justice League has 4 full time staff and 11 board members.

Gender Justice League believes that organizing and activist skills can come from a number of sources in a person’s life, not simply traditional education or workplace environments. We assess documentable lived or volunteer experience on the same level as education or work experience. For this position, we are looking for

Gender Justice League is looking for an outstanding part-time executive assistant who has the chops to keep an increasingly busy executive director organized, centered, and supported. The ideal candidate will possess both inter- and extrapersonal skills that encourage organization, efficiency, and sustainability.

Job Duties

Assistant to Executive Director (80%)

•  Provide outstanding organizational and administrative support to the Executive Director

•  Assist in prioritizing ED’s daily tasks, projects, and appointments

•  Screen phone calls and email correspondence

•  Scheduling appointments and managing ED’s calendar

•  Assist with weekly call time

Office Administrator (20%)

•  Book travel arrangements for staff, board, event partners when necessary

•  Assist with board meetings, staff meetings, staff retreats and other office events.

•  Provide support during community gatherings and fundraisers (10 hours max/month)

Qualifications:

•  3-5 years of work, education, and/or lived experience that directly relates to the position

•  Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a rapidly changing political environment

•  Detail oriented with an eye for time management and individual and organizational capacity

•  Proficient in most Google platforms as well as Microsoft Office

Highly Desired Skills

•  Experience with grassroots organizing, public policy, and community building

•  A demonstrated connection and commitment to trans and gender-diverse communities.

•  A strong and demonstrated commitment to racial, disability, gender, and economic justice.

Specific Details:

•  Work could possibly happen on some weekends and evenings as scheduled, with variable hours and/or evening work at sites away from the office.

•  Frequent contact with the public in a fast-paced and changing work environment, which may at times be stressful or emotionally charged.

•  Discussions in the workplace of sensitive subjects related racial justice, sex work, gender and sexuality, and civil and human rights advocacy.

•  While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to reach or feel; type, carry up to 30lbs, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
