Introduction to Information Management

Part I - Prototype Company Introduction Presentation

Project Narrative

This project provides the opportunity for students to enhance power point presentation skills along with applying textbook concepts related to the strategic use of information technology in business.

Prerequisite Knowledge - Create, Open and Save PowerPoint documents, insert objects, images, text content, custom animation, audio/visual features, graphic and image enhancements.
Subsequent Application - Company Projects II, III, IV (SDLC Project) and V (Final Company Project Presentation).

Requirements

As a group create a PowerPoint presentation detailing a prototypecompany that has both a storefront and online presence. This presentation is to be very detailed (you are educating about this company of which nothing is known). You will be creating this for information only at this time, so you do not need to follow the rule of 7[1].

This PowerPoint should include the following:

  • the names of all group members on the introduction slide;
  • a detailed background of the company, how did the company get started, the name of the company;
  • identify the different roles each team member plays in the business (System Developer, Project Coordinator, Promotion Agent).
  • identify the company’s processes, the kinds of products and services; be specific on the names/types of products (i.e. “4th of July Holiday Sugar Cookies”, “Lesson: Microwave Cookies”).
  • Clearly identify the online segment and the storefront operations.
  • customer demographics – who are the customers, what are their likes, interests, population, etc., clearly define the online versus the storefront customers;
  • identify the marketing mix; marketing strategies; explain the marketing strategies for both the online and storefront operation. Give twostrategies for each (online segment and storefront operation). Indicate what each strategy is and how it will be used (See Laudon Resource).
  • a reference slide that includes the sources used (the textbook will be one) in gathering information for the presentation;

Share the completed PowerPoint with all group members. Each member will add it to their personal class site.
