Name: ______

Part 1: Family interview and narrativeDue: Wed after Pesach break

Narrative Component____/ 20

*For this 2 paragraph part of this pedigree project, please describe some traits that you notice within your family. If possible, say where they seem to come from and anything interesting that you have learned from interviewing your parents and/ or grandparents. What makes your family unique? Please only describe genetic traits not personality/ preference! To receive full credit you’ll need to show evidence of careful observation within your family.

Part 2: Focus on one trait and make a Pedigree! Due: ______

You’ll be working on making a 3 generation pedigree of an observable trait. It can be your family, a friend’s family, or even someone famous or interesting. Be sure to check the rubric for specific point values!

You will want to choose a trait which is easily observable or tested. You MUST include 3 generations but please include more if possible!Possible traits to use: haircolor, eye color, hair texture (straight, wavy, curly), hairline (widows peak, flat), ear lobes (attached, free), thumbed (right, left), tongue curling, hitchhikers thumb, front tooth gap. If you’re featuring a very confusing family (half siblings, etc, please use your best judgment or see Mrs. Haakanson). Some of these can get very confusing!

Be sure to include a KEY which can be used to identify who has and who does not have the trait. (You may choose to use colors or other symbols).
