What’s Happening at St. Mary’s

Choir: Our next choir practice will be held on Wednesday, September 19th and run from 7:30-9:00pm in the chapel. We will be rehearsing the hymns for Sunday service and will be working on an anthem for Thanksgiving Sunday. We invite anyone who loves to sing or who wants to learn to come along and join us in our music ministry. No experience or music-reading ability required. For more information email Ashley .

Jiggs Dinner: We will be holding our annual “all you can eat” Jiggs Dinner with a blueberry dessert on Wednesday September 26 at 6:00. Tickets are limited and are available at the church office or from Everett or Fred at a cost of $20.00. All tickets must be purchased by September 24th.

The ACW will be holding a bake sale during the Jiggs Dinner andare asking the congregation for a donation of one or two homemade baked items for our sale such as pies,cakes breads,tea buns,muffins,cookies,etc… They can be dropped off at the church office or the kitchen downstairs on Wed Sept 26 between 9am and 1pm Thank you for your continuous support as always.

Save the Date: At our most recent Ways & Means Committee meeting plans were made for upcoming events in our Parish. We are asking you to save the date for these events and share the information with others who may want to come along and support our Parish.

St. Luke’s: Our ministry to the residents at St. Luke’s Home will bestarting up again on the 18th of September at 7:00 pm. For more information please contact Ross Learning.

Bowling: St. Mary the Virgin A-Team is looking for a bowler. If you are interested, contact Ross Learning at 740-5966.

Church calendars: St. Mary’s ACW will be selling the National Church calendars as a small fundraiser for our Parish. The calendars are available for $6.00 each.

Emails: In an effort to better inform you of what is going on in our Parish, we are emailing out information more regularly. Some emails cannot be delivered and some emails we do not have. If you would like to be contacted with our Parish updates, please call the office at 579-0039 Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00-1:00. We appreciate your help.

Home Again Furniture Bank: Is accepting applications for the position ofFurniture and Volunteer Coordinator.About the position:

-Part Time - 20 hours/week - Mon-Fri, (on rare occasions weekend and evenings may be required)

-Work will be performed both inside and outside of an office

-Must have good working knowledge of standard computer programs (excel, google docs, etc)

-Access to and use of own vehicle is a requirement

-Leading volunteer teams and planning/conducting furniture deliveries and pick-ups.

-Vulnerable sector screening and criminal record check is required;

-This position requires physical effort as individual will be assisting in the moving of household items and/or furniture.

The ideal candidate would have:

-The desire to work part-time

-A diploma or degree in the areas of social sciences or have an understanding of/previous experience working with vulnerable populations.

-Excellent organizational skills, communication & interpersonal skills and leadership skills

-A valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle

-A minimum of one-year experience in the coordination of programs and/or services.
