Today is Mission Sunday and we unite on this special day with all Churches worldwide. “together in faith”, to celebrate our faith and the spreading of God’s love to far distant missionary lands. Let us individually and as a community assist the missions by prayer and financial help so that they may continue their tremendous work for bringing people to Jesus.

In Pope Benedict’s message he says “Missionary activity renews the Church, revitalizes faith and Christian identity, and offers fresh enthusiasm and new incentive. Faith is strengthened when it is given to others! It is a commitment to the Church’s universal mission that the new evangelization of Christian peoples will find inspiration and support”.

Mission Sunday is celebrated each year to raise awareness of the church’s mission. It is the one specific day every year we show the 1,700 Irish Missionaries, serving in over 80 countries, that we are truly together with them in mission and that we are sincerely grateful for the inspiring work they do in spreading God’s Word.

The support, spiritual and financial, they receive from us is a great boost to them. Today we continue that support by prayer and by donating

whatever we can in today’s Mission Collection.

All monies, every cent, collected today will go straight to support as many as 1,100 dioceses

in mission territories across the globe. Be as generous as you can!

Parish Mission
We are truly grateful to God for the blessings of the Parish Mission. The Céile Mission Team are doing a powerful service in leading us ‘on Mission’; their method, approach and style tapped into layers and layers of faith, care and good will.
God only knows what graces (this) Mission has brought and will bring to us, our families and our schools. It has certainly enabled us to celebrate the treasury of faith we have here.
We will acknowledge later the trojan work of planning and engagement of a host of people - - - meetings, visits, singing, reading, advertising, the hospitality, praying, the generous co-operation of the schools, community groups and many, many individuals and families. For this weekend we name the gift that this Céile Mission Team is to our Church.
May parishes always have people like Fr. Pat, Mattie, Paul & Angela Rock, Fr. Eamonn, Fr. John, Catherine, Sr. Cornelia, and Emmanuel to call on. May they personally and as a team, continue to be blessed with the spirit of loving service in their mission work. / Sesquicentennial Celebration of
Sisters of Saint Clare
We rejoice with the Sisters of St. Clare in celebrating the charism given to St. Clare, the blessed arrival here of Mother O’Hagan and her Sisters in October 1861, and all the blessings bestowed on the Sisters of St. Clare in Kenmare over the past 150 years.
After 12noon Mass (1-3pm) the Exhibition & Display to mark the Sisters’ Celebration will be open in Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine. The exhibition consists of photographs and memorabilia associated with the story of the Sisters of St. Clare in Kenmare.
The Display consists of a Commemorative Circle of Lace that is being made by parents, pupils of St. Clare’s N.S. members of the community and Transition Year students from Pobalscoil; there will be a continuous demonstration of this delicate art during the exhibition.
The entrance to the Exhibition is by the main door of the former convent, through the gate on the town side of Holy Cross Church. Refreshments will be available.
