What to bring to camp: Overnight campers:Bible, beach towel, one piece swim suit or modest tankini,(if swimsuits are not considered modest by camp staff, your child will be asked to swim with a t-shirt over their swimsuit) tennis shoes, sheets and blanket or a sleeping bag, pillow, bath towels, soap, all toiletry items, appropriate clothes for camp (no midriff tops or short shorts), and a flashlight. Labeled disposable cameras are encouraged.Day campers should bring underlined items and a change of clothes (just in case). It seems to work out best if day campers pack a backpack each day with their appropriate items. No camper should pack food, money, electronics, or cell phones.(We provide everything they need)

How to behave at camp: Each camper is expected to follow all camp rules, act in a Christ-like manner, and obey all camp counselors at all times. Campers will not leave the campgrounds. Any arrangements that HAVE to be made for your camper to leave the campgrounds during the week must be turned in, in writing, by June 8th and then must be considered by the church staff. There will be no telephone calls to or from the campers. We also ask that you not visit your child at camp. This becomes a distraction for the kids. Feel free to call me at 451-7275 any time, and I’ll give you an update on your camper. Each camper must attend all scheduled activities. Any camper who disobeys the camp rules will be returned home.

We are blessed that each year our church budgets to help each family out with the expenses of camp. Camp is one of those lifetime experiences that you do not want your child to miss out on. Begin planning now to make this a priority in your family calendar and budget. Don’t ever let money be the reason your child doesn’t attend camp. We always have church members who are willing to sponsor children.

The Newsletter contains the details; here’s my heart:

Camp is a special childhood experience. We seek to create a week that will be life-changing for each child. Getting away from technology and focusing on building relationships is a great way to spend a week of your summer.

You can help prepare your child for the camp experience in several ways:

  • Pray for and with your child about camp: What does God have in store for your camper? What can He teach him/her?
  • Make sure your camper packs a Bible with them.
  • Encourage your camper to obey camp rules and counselors. The rules are all there for a reason: to ensure order, safety and fairness at camp. We do have fun, and we wish for it to be in a safe way!
  • Share your own camp experiences with your child (if you have positive ones)
  • Stash notes in your campers luggage. Those surprises are priceless!
  • Pray for the camp Jr. Counselors. The youth are an essential part of our camp experience. They do an excellent job in all of their camp assignments.
  • Pray for the camp Counselors. They are volunteers who are investing a week of their lives with your child. Pray for clarity of teaching and energy for each counselor.

There’s so much to pray for and look forward to.

I’m so excited to get to spend a week at camp with your kids.

Blessings,

Wendy
