Parent Agreement

It is important to have my child reach his/her full academic potential. Therefore, I will encourage him/her by doing the following:

See that my child attends school regularly and is punctual.

Establish a time and place for homework and check it regularly.

Support the school staff and respect the cultural differences of others.

Have on-going and open communication with my child’s school and teacher.

Monitor television and movie viewing.

Student Agreement

It is important that I do the best that I can. Therefore, I will do the following:

Always try to work to the best of my ability.

Come to school each day on time, with my homework completed and have the supplies that I need.

Show respect for myself, my school, other students and have considerations for cultural differences.

Conform to the rules and conduct at my school.

Believe that I can learn and I will learn.

Teacher Agreement

Students must be given the opportunity to succeed. Therefore, I will do the following:

Provide an environment conducive to learning.

Have high expectations for myself, my students and the school.

Maintain open lines of effective communication with my students and their parents in order to support student learning.

Seek ways to involve parents in the classroom for observation or participation in classroom activities.

Respect the students, their parents and the diverse cultures of the school.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY

The following procedures ensures that ______school will provide parents of children being served in the Title I program an adequate opportunity to be involved in the planning, implementation, review and improvement of the Title I program in accordance with Section 1118 of Title I law:

  1. At the beginning of the school year, parents of participating in Title I students will receive the Title I Parent Involvement Policy (for which they will be asked to sign to indicate receipt), which will include notification of:
  1. Annual meetings to be convened at their child(ren)’s school building that will coincide with ______School’s Back to School Open House / Parent Informational Night in September (the date(s), time(s) and other pertinent details which will be provided by a letter sent home with the child) for the purpose of (i) notification that ______School has a school wide Title I Program, (ii) explaining the program of instruction offered by Title I at ______School, (iii) establishing the parent’s invitation to become involved in the program.
  1. Parents are invited to be involved in the planning, review and improvement of the Title I program, including the parent involvement policy and school-wide program via a series of discussion meetings at ______School to which parents of participating students will be invited throughout the school year. Parents will receive advance notice of these meetings from Title I staff at ______School.
  1. Parents will be provided the following information via individual parent-teacher conference to which they will be invited in a timely fashion through the school year:
  1. School performance profiles;
  1. Child(ren)’s individual student assessment results and a description / explanation of the measurement administered;
  2. Description / explanation of the curriculum in use at ______School;
  3. Expectations of student achievement according to the state performance standards.
  1. Parents are invited to meet with other parents of participating students to share ideas, and formulate suggestions to ______School staff regarding educational issues which affect their child(ren), and upon submission of suggestions to the building, receive a timely response. Parents are encouraged to attend monthly Parent Advisory meetings. Parents can also influence policies at ______School by serving on the state mandated EPSS (Educational Plan for Student Success) committee. A summary of EPSS activities and goals for the following year are presented to parents in March. If interested, the school principal will provide schedules of Parent Advisory meetings and events and a list of EPSS committee members to contact.
  1. Parents are invited to submit comments and suggestions to a school conducting a school-wide program when its plan is made public, if the parent is dissatisfied with any aspect of the plan. The Title I staff / principal will mediate any concerns parents may have.
  1. The school-parent-student compact will be drawn up between the parent, student and teacher in which parents, students and teachers agree formally to share the responsibility for improved student achievement in a partnership offering both high quality instruction and a supportive learning environment which enable students to meet the State’s student performance standards. The compact will include:
  1. Parent-teacher conferences in schools, at least annually;
  1. Frequent reports to parents on their child(ren)’s progress, either verbally or in writing;
  2. Accessibility of Title I staff to meet with parents and opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and observe classroom activities.
  1. Parents will receive support from the school, building capacity for effective involvement via greater understanding of the following:
  1. National Education Goals, State student performance standards and State and local assessments; a survey sent to parents to address parent concerns and parental priorities to guide parent workshops.
  1. How to monitor their child(ren)’s progress and how to work with educators to improve the performance of their child(ren). Parent training and periodic newsletters will focus on assisting parents in developing skills to better aid their child(ren) in becoming academically and emotionally successful.
  1. Parents are invited to assist ______School in the training of teachers, principals, and other staff in the value of building family-school partnerships and how to reach out to and communicate with parents. A parent representative will be invited to attend ______School’s staff meetings. He/she will then inform the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or other existing parent committees of new opportunities, events, etc., and return responses and concerns to the ______School principal.
  1. Parents are invited to seek trainings and materials which will enhance their child’s learning. ______School will conduct training that will assist parents in becoming more involved and effective in their child(ren)’s education. These topics will be determined by parent surveys sent home in September.
  2. Parents are invited to have their own parent involvement programs and training activities coordinated with programs such as Parents as Teachers (PAT), Head Start, Learning Circle Day Care and other preschool programs. The Title I staff / DD preschool teacher / building administrator will provide the information on all parent involvement meetings which will communicate to the Learning Circle, PAT and the Head Start Program staff which service the students of the specific attendance area. Those parents will be invited to such meetings.
  1. Parents are invited to be included in involvement activities, which encourage partnerships between ______School and local businesses. In the past, several businesses have offered free and discounted coupons to the students who met specified requirements. The Parent Involvement Committee will continue to seek support from local businesses and encourage their involvement with the school.
  1. Parents are to be informed of parent involvement programs, meetings and other activities in the language which is used within the home. At any time a parent would feel more comfortable conversing in their home language, ______School would be happy to accommodate.
  1. ______School will provide full opportunities for the participation of parents with limited English proficiency or with disabilities, including providing information and school profiles in language and form which parents can understand.
  1. Parent may request, and CentralConsolidatedSchool District staff will provide the parents information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers, instructional support providers, and the principal including, at a minimum, the following:
  1. Whether the person has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the person provides services.
  1. Whether the person is working under emergency or other provisional statues through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
  1. The baccalaureate degree major of the person and any other graduate certification or degree held by the person, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree or whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
  1. Parents will be notified if a child is assigned, or has been taught 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified. Page 4 of 4
