The mission of Meister Elementary School is to create a safe environment where students develop communication, problem-solving, and decision making strategies through the use of “LIFESKILLS” to become effective lifelong learners in our ever-changing society.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We value your role in working to help your child achieve high academic standards. The following are suggestions for how parents and school staff can build and maintain a shared partnership for the responsibility of supporting your child’s learning.

School’s Responsibility:

·  Provide high quality curriculum and learning materials.

·  Assist parents in an understanding of academic achievement standards and assessments and how to monitor your child’s progress.

·  Conduct annual parent-teacher conferences.

·  Distribute frequent reports regarding your child’s progress, and

·  Provide opportunities to talk with staff, volunteer in class, and observe classroom activities.

Parent’s Responsibility:

·  Encourage your child to attend school regularly.

·  Encourage your child to show his/her best possible school behavior.

·  Review your child’s homework.

·  Monitor television watching and encourage positive use of your child’s extracurricular time.

·  Volunteer in your child’s school and classroom if time or schedule permits.

·  Attend parent-teacher conferences and participate, when appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of your child.

·  Acquaint yourself with the Indiana Standards for the grade in which your child is enrolled.

Please review this School-Parent Compact with your child. The School-Parent Compact may be discussed with you during a parent-teacher conference as it relates to your child’s school progress. Please sign the attached copy and return to the Title I program at your school.
