PARENT COUNCIL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
MONDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2016, 6PM
PRESENT: ISABEL ALEXANDER,ALMA BALFOUR, CHRISTOPHER HERDMAN,COLIN RISBRIDGER,COLIN NISBET,CLAIRE JACOBSEN, STEVE SNAKEY, KAREN LESLIE, CHARLOTTE HARRISON, MIA WANT, JOHN GARSON, ANNA WHELAN, DON HAWKINS,MARGARET KEENAN, TALIAH DRAYAK ( ARRIVED AFTER THE MEETING HAD STARTED),KATIE SINCLAIR ( ARRIVED AFTER THE MEETING HAD STARTED),KIERSTY TAMS-GRAY.

- Chair person, John Garson welcomed everyone to the meeting. John opened the meeting by announcing that the Parent Council are in need of a Secretary. No minutes from the 2015 AGM.
- Chairperson report is attached.
- Head teacher, Don Hawkins report is attached.
- Treasurer, Isabel Alexander produced the accounts. More funds are required for the Parent Council to support the school. Accounts are attached.
- Chair person vote taken – John Garson
- Vice chair vote taken – Charlotte Harrison
- Secretary – position not filled
- Co –opted members – Colin Nisbet (Guidance teacher), Alma Balfour (Head of Guidance)
- Pupil council rep - position not filled
- Discussion took place as to whether the Parent Council would benefit from a 6th year student under taken business at school t assist with the secretary and /or minute taker position. Mr. Hawkins to investigate on behalf of the Parent Council.
- Discussions took place pertaining to: lunch breaks, 6th year study areas and common room, 1st years being allowed out 5 minutes before the rest of the school for lunches – 6th years to take on the monitoring of this, the outdoor space to be utilised as at present the doors are locked so the young people cannot access this space, physical activity at lunch times? Or the lack of it. Janitors not supervising behaviours at break and lunch times.
- Mia Want –at lunchtimes there is sometimes no choice of food left once the young people have waited in line.
- Karen Leslie – the whole school going for lunch at the same time is hectic.
- Colin Nisbet – Popular foods like chicken burgers go very quickly.
- Alma Balfour – comments box at the side of the kitchen to encourage the young people to fill out a card to say what they would like to eat.
- Anna Whelan – question on food wastage.
- Mr. Hawkins to have a discussion with the kitchen staff.
- Alma Balfour and Ann Whelan - salad boxes, vegetarian option daily, soups (state what stock they use etc).
- Discussion on soups and salads, the hot and cold lines, young people in the curriculum support department and their lunch times. Gary Boyd to monitor.
- Anna Whelan and Charlotte Harrison– children having their back packs rummaged through by other children.
