Parading to Light Up Wexford for Christmas!

The Wexford Winterland Festival includes festive fun for all the family this Christmas with the return of Wexford People Wexford on Ice and the magical Christmas Express. New this year, is Santa’s North Pole Experience, transporting you from Wexford Quay to the wonder of the North Pole! There’ll be enchantment and wonder around every snowy corner before you get the meet Santa Claus himself!

The Festival will kick off this Saturdayin a riot of colour, music and excitement with the spectacular Winterland Parade trailing through the streets of Wexfordthat will end with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.

Bring your little ones along to see Santa and his merry elves as he travels on his spectacular sleigh through the streets of Wexford! But watch out for Cinderella’s Ugly Sisters as they race to turn on the Christmas lights before Santa. Who will win? Well you will just have to be there to find out!

The Parade will travel from Selskar Square along the Main Street, past the Bullring and North Main Street. It will turn down Anne Street and cross over onto the Quay and finish at the Wexford People Wexford on Ice Rink to light up Wexford when the Christmas lights will be turned on.

Speaking by phone from the North Pole recently, Santa Claus commented, “I can’t wait to return to Wexford this year and meet all the boys and girls of Wexford again! The parade is always spectacular and is sure to be great fun this year with Cinderalla and friends. This year I will be bringing a little piece of my home in The North Pole with me and all the boys and girls can come and visit me there from December 1st. I will also be bring Mrs. Claus who will be reading Christmas tales to everyone on the Christmas Express!”

The Parade starts at 4.30pm from Selskar Square, this Saturday November 25thand the turning on of the lights is at 5pm on the Quay.

This year the Parade will be joined by Cinderella, brought to you by the Wexford Pantomime Society. Cinderella, Prince Charming and Buttons will help to look after Santa and keep an eye on the fiendish Ugly Sisters!
