PAGEANT RULES

The following rules are enforced at the discretion of The Lithopolis Honeyfest Pageant Committee and its organizers.

1. All contestants must be female, currently attending school and reside in the State of Ohio. Proof of residency, age and school must be provided. A copy of the contestant’s birth certificate, most recent report card and utility bill in the parent/guardian’s name with the address clearly showing, must be submitted with all paperwork.

2. A mandatory rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the stage. Bring the contestant’s attire for approval.

3. After being crowned, the Honeyfest Queen and Princess must remain at the festival.

4. The Honeyfest Queen and Princess are required to participate in other festivals/parades. Possibly the Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival, the Circleville Pumpkin Show Parade of Queens and attending the Ohio State Fair. Other events such as fundraisers or community service projects may require their attendance. These will be at the discretion of the pageant committee and its organizers.

5. Contestants do not have to be beekeepers.

6. Behaviors, the Queen and Princess represent the Lithopolis Honeyfest Association. Proper conduct is required at all time. Use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, foul language, bullying or inappropriate images on any social media is grounds for disqualification, resulting in returning of any monies and awarded prizes.

7. The only visible piercings shall be in the ear lobes. No visible tattoos are permitted.

8. The attire for the pageant is semi-formal and age appropriate. Hair and make-up should be a natural look. Dresses must be knee length or longer, no high slits, no bare backs or mid-riffs and no cleavage. Stiletto heels are not permitted.

9. Essay/Story requirements. All Princess candidates must submit a story about a honey bee. It should be one full page (notebook paper) and may include a drawing. The story will be judged on creativity and grammar (the drawing will not be considered in scoring).

All queen candidates must submit a 500-word essay on the importance of the honey bee. The essay must be typed, 12 Calibri font and double spaced.

All essays/stories must be emailed to: before August 18, 2017. Once it has been received, you will receive a confirmation email. When submitting your essay/story, in the subject line type the contestant’s name, an email address and the word essay or story (whichever you are submitting). Example: sally student, , story.

10. These rules are only to serve as guidelines to appropriate behavior and are not inclusive. The pageant committee and organizers will decide if any disciplinary actions are necessary.

11. Failure to comply with any rules shall result in the loss of your title, as well as any awards you may have received.
