[1] This application consists of three sections: Sections A, B and C. In Section A the applicant provides information required to assess the suitability of the ECVM Specialists and Diplomates for the roles they are assigned to within the context of the SRTP under evaluation. In Section B the applicant provides information regarding the Hosting Institution, the resources required for the SRTP, the annual timetable and the specific training activities. Details of Affiliated Institutions are supplied in Section C. All sections of the application need to be completed. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.

[2]This application should be completed by the ECVM Specialist who will be assigned to the position of the Residency Programme Director and submitted electronically to the Secretary, ECVM – for details see website. Please refer to Appendix II of the Policies and Procedures of ECVM for guidance.

[7] SRTP must be hosted in an ECVM Approved Training Center. Satellite Training Centers must be affiliated with an ECVM Approved Training Center. At the time this application is submitted the Training Center must be licensed as Approved or an application for approval must accompany this application.

[8]Provide a description of the measures taken to ensure that the SRTP is adequately supported in terms of financial resources; indicate the source of the financial resources required to support the residency programme and their sustainability; indicate if residents are charged with bench fees or if they are supported financially e.g. stipend for residents; indicate if travel and subsistence is provided to the residents for their travel and stay in affiliated institutions or if the relevant expense is covered by them.

[9]Describe briefly the 5-year track record of the team providing the SRTP, including research activities (focus areas, on-going projects) and output (e.g. scientific papers, dissemination and patents).

[10] Outline the timetable and describe the various activities and responsibilities of the resident for each year. The timetable must demonstrate a minimum of 24 hours/week of activity in veterinary microbiology, over a minimum of 48 weeks a year, totaling 144 weeks over a 3-year residency programme. At least sixty per cent of the resident’s time will be spent in veterinary microbiology, at least twenty per cent of the resident’s time will be spent in research on veterinary microbiology and preparation of manuscripts and at least twenty per cent of the resident’s time will be devoted to study.
