Norwia upgrade for miniHUB offers seamless conversion between SDI and IP

18 IP data streams into a single fibre transport joins enhanced product portfolio offering industry leading flexibility and value

Norway, August 1st 2017:Norwia AS (IBC Stand 10.C10), the leading supplier of next generation optical transport products, has announced a set of new IP conversion products for the miniHUB platform to streamline conversion between IP and SDI transport streams.

“miniHUB has proven extremely popular with our customers as a platform for transitioning existing SDI equipment into the IP domain,” says Tore Steen, Chief Executive Officer, Norwia AS. “With these new upgrade modules, we extend the value even further by using the same core frames with updated modules that deliver an enhanced feature set.”

The new modules include a version that enables the multiplexing of 18 IP data streams into a single fiber stream and a module for simple conversion from IP to SDI via fiber and visa-versa. These bundled versions are available with RCONmini interface to enable simple configuration and are standardizationon SMPTE 2022-6 and with upgrade paths to 2110 including HDR to ensure future proof compatibility.

The new conversion modules for miniHUB joins a growing portfolio that will be showcased at IBC 2017 which includes new higher density dual layer frames, extended SMC camera interface support and an enhanced software suite. A major highlight is a new a 10G electrical Ethernet to optical solution for the miniHUB frame using Norwia’s range of 10G approved optics that include standard 1310 optics or CWDM optics for multiplexing. The converter provides a non-evasive way of handling 10G data circuits without interference of content while providing accurate optical signal level measurements.

“The shift from SDI to Hybrid networks has accelerated in the last few years and it’s clear from speaking to our customers that they need solutions that can move at a pace that matches their individual timescales,” says Tracey Ford, Chief Sales and Marketing officer for Norwia. “Norwia is a strong believer in Hybrid networks for IP and SDI and our design philosophy uses a core frame that can be upgraded as customers transition their networks to provide the best option in terms of flexibility but while delivering a fantastic return on investment that will extend into the decades to come.”
