Pack in the plastic – could you take up the challenge?

Marine charity volunteer set to go plastic free for how long?and you could join him/her!

Aplace e.g. West Cornwall man/womanis going single use plastic free for how long, to encourage others to think twice about using things like plastic bags, bottles and ready meal containers. By highlighting just how much we depend on the stuff, the charity hopes people will reduce their use of single use plastics and increase their recycling.

Your name, from town,is a volunteer for the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), the UK’s leading marine charity.

MCS says the amount of plastic litter on our beaches and in the sea is increasing, and with it the threat to marine life. Plastic bags, bottles and tiny plastic pieces are regularly found in the stomachs of turtles and other sea creatures, and in some cases have caused their death from starvation or choking.

Your namesays “insert a quote or two about your challenge – what changes you expect to make, how you think you’ll avoid single use plastic, how difficult do you think it will be? Etc.”

You name’s“Plastic Challenge” will be incredibly hard going, according to MCSSenior Pollution Campaigns Officer, Emma Cunningham: “Plastic plays such a large part in all of our lives, from brushing our teeth and showering, to cooking and buying plastic packed products. I’m looking forward to hearing how your nameovercomes the daily challenges of making plastic free meals, and hope others will also take up the challenge.”

Throughout his/her challenge, your namewill be raising money for MCS and the charity is hoping that other people in the area will follow his/her lead and take part in the “Plastic Challenge”. You can find out how at sponsor him/her at insert fundraising link.

The Plastic Challenge is sponsored by water filtration company, Brita: "BRITA UK are proud to be working alongside MCS to encourage people to reduce their use of plastics, in particular singleuse plastic water bottles. These bottles play a significant role in contributing to the ever increasing landfill refuse sites as well as littering our beaches and oceans. More than ever, people need to do their part and make small changes that can have a positive impact on these issues. Using reusable filtered water bottles is a simple way to make a difference.” Becky Widdowson, Brita Marketing Director.
