Contest Details…
Local culinary experts will be judging the cakes.
Cakes will be judged in six different categories, with a first, second and third place in each category:
§ Fanciest
§ Biggest
§ Most Patriotic
§ Most Original
§ Most Scout Like
§ Tallest
The judges will determine which category each cake will be judged in.
Families with more than one boy in Scouts may enter one cake as a group project. (However, if you wish to enter a cake for each Scout, you may.) Each group of Male Cake Bakers will have their photograph taken with the cake before we cut into them.
We’ll be eating all of the cakes for dessert at our Picnic. The Cake Bakers get to take their leftover cake home with them…if there is any!
Please see other side for official rules.
Pack 35 Male Cake Bake 2002
-Rules-
Only cakes that meet the requirements for the Male Cake Bake can be judged in our Contest. The following are the rules:
1. Only male cooks, advisors and cleanup crews are allowed to participate. No advice, instructions or help of any type is allowed from females.
2. The cake and all decorations must be completely edible. No toothpicks, plastic, wax, inedible decorations or inedible materials of any kind are allowed to be a part of the cake.
3. Cake and icing mixes are allowed. However, it can be a lot more fun – and even more delicious – if you work as much from scratch as possible. Of course, this usually leads to a bigger mess in the kitchen. And the messier you get, the more fun you can have. (Again, no help from the females in cleaning up!)
4. Members of the female persuasion (this includes moms, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, female friends, etc.) are encouraged to watch and enjoy the experience – maybe even take a few pictures. (But no helping!!!!)
5. Cakes must be brought to the Saranac Town Hall by 2:00 pm on the day of the Contest. Judging will begin at 2:30. You will need to sign a registration form when you drop off your cake. Please come prepared with a title for your cake.
6. The judges are responsible for determining which categories each cake will be judged in. No more than one award will be given per cake.
