1. Pacific Mental Health & Addictions Scholarship

Le Va is committed to growing the Pacific mental health and addiction workforce. The Pacific mental health and addictions scholarships are intended to increase capacity and developing the skills of Pacific staff working in mental health and/ or in addiction sectors. Successful selected scholarship recipients will have an approved amount contributed towards their tuition fees and an opportunity to participate in the Futures that Work programme.

Pacific mental health and addiction scholarship: Value, tenure and requirements

The scholarship provides financial contribution towards tuition fees forup to one academic year for 2017. Funds are non-deferrable.

The maximum value of the scholarship is at the discretion of the scholarship assessment panel.The scholarship panel is made up of representatives from the Ministry of Health, Mental health and addiction leaders, the community and Le Va.

The scholarship is only for the course papers set out on the 2017fees invoice submitted.

Scholarships that are not claimed and accepted by applicants by the advised date, will be forfeited.

Payment of course fees will only be made directly to the tertiary education provider

All successful selected scholarship recipients are to meet at a fono and celebration dinner. Date is to be confirmed.

Note: Please check when your payment for fees are due as you may needto apply for a student loan or arrange payments for your fees until you are notified of the outcome of your application submission.

Eligibility Criteria for Fast Track Applicants:

Fast Track applicants must:

be a 2016 Pacific mental health and addiction scholarship recipient

have achieved a grade point average of 5.0 or B average (or higher) across all Le Va funded papers in 2016

be enrolled in the same course of study as 2016 at the same tertiary education provider in New Zealand

submit a correctly completed ‘Fast Track’ application form with the required documentationsno later than Friday 24th February 2017
