Michael Raposa gave financial report. We have filed our first tax return and we did not owe. Total current assests $13,692.25. Liabilities are 8013.74, which includes conference expense reserves. Net assets 5678.51. Profit and Loss Statement: total expenses for the year 931.33 and total income over expenses is 9978.78. He explained again that $10 of the registration fee for the conference goes for membership to FNC.

Ed Aosinski (Pinellas Park) motioned to approved, Sarah Goodwin (Orange County) seconded. Motion passed.

Susie explained the process for becoming 501c3. We want to make sure that everything we do as a board is to protect us as members. Information will be posted online for members to be able to follow the business of the FNC. We are considering putting together a membership list to be posted on the website. However, we want to make sure to protect members from unwanted solicitations. We are also considering developing a members only section of the website.

Members are expected to provide input and ideas. We would eventually like to solicit sponsors and give out scholarships.

Susie also encouraged members to consider nominating individuals for the All State awards. She explained the requirements. The critical part is that the nominator be in attendance at one of the past two FNC conferences. She also encouraged members to nominate to the Neighbor Salutes award for any neighborhood leaders who may have passed away during the year.

Members were asked to help identify topics for workshops by sharing with their neighborhoods staff.

Glen Gibellina (Brandenton) wanted to know if the FNC would be willing to be members of Grant Station and allow members to access the data. Denise Carter indicated that the membership is individual and it would not be possible for the FNC to share membership. Susie indicated that perhaps the FNC can be a resource for neighborhoods.

Collen Gray (Bradenton) was very pleased with the Neighborhood Organizing 101 and suggested that a workshop for next year’s conference be a workshop on how to maneuver through bureaucracy and know who to contact.

Sharon Kramer (Manatee County) suggested a workshop on what neighborhoods can do to improve safety in their neighborhoods.

Sarah Goodwin (Orange County) suggested how neighborhoods can get action from the police department by going through the Mayor and Commissioners.

Brenda Mobley (Tampa) suggested a workshop on reaching our youth in the neighborhoods. Perhaps programs to help youth become better citizens.

Vickie Murphy (Orange County) reminded members that at a past conference we actually had the youth put on the workshop.

Janice Ford (St. Pete) supported the idea that youth put on a workshop. Pastor Victor Wikoffsupported the ideas.

Cindy Everhart (Palmetto) wants to involve the school boards and to offer CEUs for some of the workshops. Susie indicated that we will be considering for 2014 FNC.

Melissa Newton (St. Pete) suggested that representatives from the TASCO team to come and present at the conference.

Collen Gray (Bradenton) suggested a workshop on pollution, anti-litter and storm water runoff. It can also talk about reducing the use of fertilizers.

Susie called Lavon forward to pass on the torch of the conference which will be hosted by Orange County 2014.

Motion to adjourn Janice Ford and seconded by Glen Gibellina. Adjourned at 918am.
