SPECIALIST REGISTRAR in RADIONUCLIDE RADIOLOGY/NUCLEAR MEDICINE

The Training Programme in Nuclear Medicine in Oxford has been jointly approved by the Royal College of Radiologists and the PMETB of the Royal College of Physicians, and is based at the Oxford University NHS Trust, incorporating the Departments of Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Medical Physics. The Programme is for radiologists who have obtained their FRCR and wish to undergo further specialist training in nuclear medicine. This would be for a period of one year, if the candidate will have already obtained a CCT in Clinical Radiology including radionuclide radiology; successful completion would result in the award of a CESR-CP in Nuclear Medicine. Alternatively the post is suitable for a specialist registrar in clinical radiology who has obtained their FRCR and wishes to subspecialise in radionuclide radiology (usually Year 5) and then proceed to a CESR-CP in Nuclear Medicine (usually Year 6). Candidates who wish to proceed to CESR-CP in Nuclear Medicine must have a minimum of two years general professional training before entering the programme.

There are2 posts available, to start Summer or Autumn 2013. The appointment will be subject to regular appraisal and assessments.

A wide range of diagnostic nuclear medicine studies is provided, amounting to over 8,000 patient investigations per year, including over 2800 PET/CT scans annually. The Nuclear Medicine service is fully integrated with other radiological imaging modalities. The weekly programme is flexible and can be adjusted to suit the needs and interests of the candidate. The Training Programme is supervised by Dr Kevin Bradley Consultant Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Physician and Nuclear Cardiology is supervised by Dr Nik Sabharwal, Consultant Cardiologist. The RCR Regional Postgraduate Adviser is Dr Zoe Traill, based at the ChurchillHospital, Oxford.

All candidates will need to hold full GMC registration at the time of appointment. Doctors who are not UK or EEA nationals and whose immigrations status entitles them to work without restriction in the UK will be considered on an equal basis with UK or EEA nationals. Other non-UK or non-EEA nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK and whose employment will require Tier 2 sponsorship are subject to the resident labour market test and may only be considered if there are no suitable UK or EEA national candidates for the post.
