Oxbow Calcining, LLC.and Autry Partner for Progress

ENID,OKLA. Oxbow Calcining, LLC.will be honored on February 23as Autry Technology Center’s Oklahoma Association of Technology Partner for Progress.

The Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education Partners for Progress award recognizes businesses and industries that have made outstanding contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technology centers in Oklahoma.

“Oxbow has been an important partner to Autry for many years,” said Kyle Hockmeyer, Autry Business and Industry Services Coordinator.“They reach out to Autry to help with scheduling many different training opportunities. Several Oxbow employees have sat on full-time advisory committees and havehelped Autry redesign curriculum for select open-enrollment courses to better suit what is happening in industry.”

Oxbow Calcining, LLC. is the largest and most diversified producer and marketer of calcined petroleum coke globally with calcining plants in North and South America. The Kremlin plant was built in 1964 under Great Lakes Carbon and was later purchased by Oxbow in 2007.

“As a manufacturer, Oxbow has unique needs in terms of training,” said Jonathan Bartley, Oxbow Plant Manager.“Autry has been able to access and schedule numerous training courses involving unique and specialized equipment. Any training required, Autry has been able to acquire it.”

Specialized training Oxbow has utilized from Autry includes kiln maintenance, bagging and palletizing, automation, communications and leadership. Additionally, the training offered is tailored to fit the needs of the organization at an affordable rate in Autry’s top notch facilities.

Autry Technology Center has been part of the Enid community since 1967 and is one of 29 CareerTech schools across Oklahoma. The center has more than 25 career programs and offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses and certifications for many diverse career fields. Autry serves nearly 16,000 individuals each year, including many area employees who receive training through the Business and Industry Services Department that works with over 500 local businesses each year.
