Dear Sponsor, welcome to the Oviedo High School Navy JROTC sponsorship program. My name is Chief Ron McKelvin one of the Naval Science Instructors at Oviedo H.S. I am sending this letter in hopes that you will consider sponsoring our very active and accomplish unit. Let me first tell you a little about our Distinguished Unit. Our Unit has been a Distinguished Unit for the past Twenty Three years. This honor is bestowed upon units that are active in supporting their community, and school. We have been the Area Seven State Marksmanship Champions for the past thirteen years and have competed at the National Level becoming National Champions in 2009 and 2013. Our program is very active in the community supporting Toys for Tots, Great Day in the Country, Activities and support for the Middle Schools and Elementary Schools, Color Guards for various organizations and Adopt-A-Highway. Our goal is to provide the type of “Leadership by Example” for all our cadets to become better citizens of our community through leadership.
In order for our unit to have success throughout the year it requires a large amount of logistics and planning. The cost to travel and support our Cadet activities runs in the thousands each year and is supported by Cadets and Booster Club members running our fundraising activities. Unfortunately we find ourselves cutting activities due to the lack of funds available. This is why we are asking for your support, nothing is more disappointing for then Cadets to find out that an overnight field meet has been canceled due to lack of funds. Parents are struggling enough with the high cost of living and the cost to put their children through school. This is where we hope you can help with your generosity and support for our young leaders of tomorrow.
We are A 501(c) Tax Deductible Organization; Tax identification No. 85-8012753034C-0. Being a proud sponsor for our program your business receives name recognition and increased visibility within the Oviedo community, Seminole County school system and at other JROTC State or National events.
Your support helps offset the expenses related to Oviedo NJROTC hosting Regional Drill Meets, maintenance of the Marksmanship Range, refurbishing rifle and drill team gear replacing equipment, and sponsoring disadvantage cadets. In addition to that, your sponsorship will help support the Rifle and Drill team when they complete in matches within the state of Florida or nationally.
October 13, 2017, will be the cut off for sponsorship submission for the 2017-2018 school year. Sponsor plaques will be awarded at our annual Military Ball May 12th, 2018. We look forward to your support and recognizing you throughout the year. We look forward to meeting you at our Military Ball and showing our appreciation.
