Thank you for your interest in adopting a horse from A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc. Our goal is to find a forever home for each of our horses, and pair them up with the right individual or family. The horse and new owner must be compatible and well-suited for one another. When this application is completed it will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc. This application must be filled out and sent with a non-refundable $50 application processing fee. When a decision is reached you will be notified by our office of the decision. The Board of Directors reserves all rights including the right to deny adoption application.

Overview of Adoption Process and Application for Adoption

STEP 1: / Complete and submit an Application for Adoption to A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc. A $50, non-refundable application processing fee is required upon submission of application, and can be paid by credit card, check (made payable to A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc.) or cash.
STEP 2: / The Board of Directors will process your application (including contacting your veterinarian, farrier and personal references to obtain information about you as a potential adopter) within 30 days. If you are selected as a suitable candidate, a member of the board will contact you with the decision to move forward with your application. If you application is incomplete or otherwise deficient you will be informed with reasonable promptness.
STEP 3: / Once we have reviewed your application, we will schedule an appointment for you to meet with one of our staff and conduct a site check. We do site checks prior to the animal leaving our premises and in their new homes--for life as well as after the animal is re-homed.A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc. will conduct a site visit of where you plan to board the horse. A representative will schedule a site visit. The appointment visits can last between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the questions, comments and concerns each party might have. Anyone applying outside of a 2 hour radius from our facility must provide pictures of where the horse would be kept as well as pictures of other horses already owned with the application. Checkups for those outside of the radius can be done via email or fax with pictures and proof of vet and farrier care. Pictures and documentation provided with application and/or checkups must be timed and dated.
STEP 5: / A Little Bit of Heaven, Inc. will determine which horse is right for you, taking into consideration any preferences the potential adopter may have. We will search our "inventory" of available horses and take into consideration the boarding site and the particularities of a horse, including adopter experience, the horse’s temperament and possible medical conditions.
STEP 6: / When the horse has been selected, the Adoption Contract will be completed. An ALBH board member and the adopter will go over the adoption contract and both you and ALBH will sign the adoption contract.
STEP 7: / Adoption Fee is paid. This fee is based on care requirements, age and what the horse is capable of doing. Our Adoption Fees vary.
STEP 8: / The adopter will arrange transportation to the horse’s forever home. The New owner will provide current photos and status reports on the adopted horse semi-annually, in addition to the annual veterinary update (which we will obtain directly from the adopter's attending veterinarian) noting that the horse has received proper care and nutrition. Failure to provide these updates will constitute breach of adoption terms. Updates are requested periodically within the first year and after the first year time frame on an annual basis. Updates may be provided with an onsite check or a time date stamped picture, vet records and a brief statement of how the horse is doing via email, text or fax.
