The Lutheran Church―Missouri Synod,LCMS World Mission Staff, in association with American International Companies and Adams & Associates International, has designed an overseas Assistance and Emergency Medical Evacuation Plan. This is separate and in addition to any other Group Medical Coverage.

This coverage provides comprehensive travel assistance by calling the telephone numbers listed below or on the attached AIG Assist I.D. card. Also included is a claim form should you need to file a claim in the event of an accidental death, dismemberment, emergency evacuation or repatriation.

Medical Assistance

Medical Assistance can help the travelers get medical attention when someone suddenly becomes ill or is in an accident by:

locating medical facilities, including physicians, hospitals, or dentists

verifying insurance coverage

making arrangements with providers of medical care to avoid cash deposit, using your

available financial resources, where possible, prior to obtaining treatment

communicating with family members, personal physicians, and employers back home on

the patient’s condition

assisting family or friends who are traveling with the patient

Emergency Medical Evacuation

Emergency Medical Evacuation will make proper medical care available from anywhere:

Medical Advisors are always on hand to consult with attending physicians to make sure patients are receiving the correct medical care. But, sometimes more sophisticated treatment is warranted – treatment which may require evacuation to better medical facilities.

If deemed medically necessary, arrangements will be made for land and air transportation, including passage on either a commercial or charter air ambulance, with in-flight physicians, paramedics or nurses and in-flight equipment and supplies. All family arrangements, immigration and customs details will also be handled.

Travel expenses, when approved by AIG International Services and associated with emergency medical evacuation, will be covered up to $75,000.00 under this program (effective 6/1/2005).

THE DEFINITION OF “EMERGENCY” IS AS FOLLOWS:

Emergency, for purposes of this evacuation insurance, is defined as a serious medical injury or sickness that is unexpected and is potentially a medical condition that could result in loss of life or limb, if proper and immediate medical care is required, but not available. Any and all emergency medical situations must be ordered by a legally licensed medical physician and approved by AIG International Services medical staff prior to travel. Failure to properly notify AIG International Services in advance and prior to travel for medical reasons will not be reimbursed under this policy.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Repatriation

Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits of $5,000.00. Repatriation arrangements of the remains of a deceased person will be made and up to $5,000.00 of the expense will be covered by this program.

Legal Assistance provides a ready resource for travelers, helping to find English-speaking attorneys for persons in danger of being arrested as the result of any non-criminal action. Also, assistance to replace lost or stolen documents such as passports or locate lost luggage. NOTE: Legal Assistance is an Assistance service and not an Insurance Reimbursement Plan.
