Outstanding Undergraduate Advising Award
The College of Education & Professional Studies is participating with the university-wide process to recognize outstanding undergraduate academic advisors. Faculty and academic staff who have advising responsibilities are eligible to be nominated for this recognition.
Students are invited to nominate faculty/academic staff members for the Outstanding Undergraduate Advising Award. Upon receipt of these nominations, the Associate Dean contacts eligible faculty/academic staff members to invite them to make a formal application for the award following the guidelines detailed in the application packet.
Persons previously selected for this award are eligible for consideration when three years have lapsed since their award conferral.
The name of the person selected by the college committee will be forwarded to the university committee for consideration. The person chosen to receive the Outstanding Advising Award at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will be nominated for consideration by the National Academic Advising Association. The criteria and evidence, as outlined by (NACADA), are listed below.
The recipient of this award will receive a cash gift of $1,000 which will be bestowed at a recognition ceremony in the fall.

Instructions for applicants:
- Detach and complete Application Cover Sheet.
- Prepare and attach a Statement of Application. In this key piece, summarize the extent to which you meet the award benchmarks, citing letters of support, data, or other materials illustrative of exemplary performance as an academic advisor. While not required, you may wish to include letters of recommendation.
- Prepare a personal statement on advising.
- Include a current resume or vita.
- Attach materials that support your statement such as:
- Copies of evaluations
- Representative materials you have developed (i.e. advising sheets)
- Letters of support from advisees, colleagues and administrators
- Other pertinent information
Please limit support materials to no more than 20 pages printed front and back.

REFERENCES: Applicants will be judged according to the benchmarks listed below. Be sure to address these benchmarks in your letter

- meets advisees in informal settings
- participates in and supports intrusive advising to build strong relationships with advisees
- monitors student progress toward academic and career goals
- masters institutional regulations, policies and procedures
- ability to engage in, promote and support developmental advising
