Outstanding Student Scholarly and Creative Activities Award

2018

The Outstanding Student Scholarly and Creative Activities Awards recognize excellence in student participation in research or creative activities. The award is presented to one undergraduate and graduate student per college who are working independently on a research project or creative activity or collaboratively with a faculty member. For the College of Education, the award is presented to one master’s and one doctoral student. All current CSUF students and those who graduated in (not before) December 2017 are eligible. Faculty must nominate students andthey may nominate students outside of their own college. These students will be considered within the students’ college (not the faculty’s college). To nominate more than one student, please submit separate applications.

(A) Provide a 250-word description of the student’s work on the research/creative activity:Briefly describe the project (what it is),thendetailthe student’s role(s) and responsibilities on the project (what the student did), and finally, describe the significance of the student’s contribution to the project and the discipline (how what the student did mattered). Be specific about what the student did on the project and why the student merits recognition.

(B) Provide a 150-word bio of the student. Include the student’s scholarly interest(s), current project(s), honors or awards, and goals. Include any additional activities the student has engaged in related to the research/creative activity (e.g., mentored students, helped organize events, held workshops).

(C) List the student’s participation in the following. Highlight national/international presentations:

  1. Work Experience

D) Provide a synopsis (25 words or fewer) of the project (this will be used for media promotion if student is selected for the award).
