Outreach Co-ordinator for the Connect Community Outreach Project

This role would suit a positive and enthusiastic team player who likes to be kept busy with a variety of different tasks and who is experienced in working with people living with aphasia. The role will involve extensive liaison with a range of people, event management, and a range of administrative, monitoring and data collection tasks.

PURPOSE /

To support the Outreach Manager in delivery of Connect’s Community Outreach Project

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Work closely with Outreach Manager to deliver Connect’s Community Outreach Project, to support the set up of new sustainable projects, which will include:

  • Supporting the development of partnerships and sustainable community projects
  • Liaising and networking with a variety of stakeholders (people with aphasia, volunteers, healthcare professionals, other voluntary organisations).
  • Sourcing different venues for meetings and activities.
  • Planning meetings, information days and launch events for multiple activitiesacross the different sites.
  • Recruiting volunteers and local mentors to support outreach activities.
  • Supporting the delivery of training (alongside the Outreach Manager).
  • Designing of appropriate marketing materials and ensuring projects are marketed locally.
  • Providing ongoing administrative support for the projects.
  • Responding to enquiries.
  • Developingaccessible resources.
  • Designingof monitoringforms, overseeing data collection and implementing evaluation.
  • Contributing to project reports.

The post holder must also be willing to travel frequently throughout the UK as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English, A-level qualifications or vocational qualification.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work with people with aphasia and their relatives and friends
  • Ability to deal with all people internally and externally at all levels. Ideally experience in a marketing/customer service role.
  • Excellent organisationaland administrative skills especially the ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload within strict deadlines. Flexibility and the ability to juggle competing demands from different individuals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and presentation.
  • Fast and accurate numeracy skills.
  • High level of computer literacy: good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel and databases. Fast and accurate keyboarding skills (minimum 35 wpm).
  • Experience of recruiting volunteers desirable.
  • Project management experience desirable.
  • A team player who understands and respects the need for confidentiality.
  • Willing to be proactive in the job and act on own initiative where appropriate.
  • Ability to carry out the job in accordance with Connect’s values, participating in line management and review processes.
OUTLINE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary:£23,000 for 4 days per week

Start Date:With immediate effect, subject to references

Annual leave:25 days per annum plus additional days between Christmas and New Year and all English bank holidays, pro rata for part time staff

Pension:Contributory Pension Scheme on satisfactory completion of probation period
