- Free public school created by parents and teachers
- C.S. Legislation enacted by the state in 1995
- Independent of local school districts
- Allowed to pursue innovative approaches
- Accountable to membership and State DOE
- Required to demonstrate effectiveness within 4 years
- Required to meet or exceed State Core Curriculum Content Standards
- Our Charter School mission:
To create a rigorous learning community that supports the academic, social and personal growth of children and the ongoing professional growth of educators.
Our school will be a place where culture, community, and professional knowledge come together to support student and teacher learning.

- Registration Process
- Lottery is required whenever there are more registrants for a grade than spaces available. The lottery ensures that everyone has the same chance of getting into the school.
- Attend an informationmeeting or tour of the school.
- Complete the registration form and bring it to the office.
- Proof of residency (3 forms)
- Proof of guardianship
- Immunization records
- Proof of registration in local school district -- (not required for families who are not yet registered in local district)
- Once admitted:
if already attending a Newark Public School or Newark charter school, complete transfer card at previous school; or
if attending a non-district school or if a kindergartener, register at Newark Central Office (2 Cedar Street) on appointed day.
Return the Enrollment Acceptance Form and the transfer form (or registration verification form from Newark PS) to NECCS office.
