Out of the Box Day June 11

DES PTA Newsletter June 2015

Out of The Box Day – June 11

On June 11, Dranesville Elementary will be participating in Out of The Box Day. Students will design and create unique projects that require “thinking outside of the box!” Classes need your help collecting and sending in materials from around your house. Please consult individual grade material requirements sent home with your student. And don’t forget, classes may need parent volunteers in the classroom to make the day a success!

Field Day – June 15

It’s that time of year again! Dranesville will be hosting its annual Field Day on Monday, June 15, 2015.

This year individual classes will rotate as a group to 11 different cooperative activity/game stations.

We are looking for AT LEAST 25 volunteers PER SESSION to help run the different games as well as provide assistance at water/first aid stations.

Our schedule is as follows:

Session 1: 9:25-10:554th-6th grades
Session 2:11:00-12:30K-1st grades
Session 3:1:00-2:30 2nd-3rd grades

You are more than welcome to volunteer at multiple sessions! Flyers went home in Tuesday folders seeking volunteers.

As your duties will necessitate your full attention, and to ensure the safety of our Field Day participants, toddlers and preschoolers are not permitted to attend.

Grace Arts 2015-2016

Now that we are wrapping up the 2014-2015 school year, the Grace Arts team would like to thank all of the fantastic volunteers, as well as a special thanks to all of those who so graciously donated to our Just a Dollar fundraiser. Thanks to the hundreds of man hours and dollars, we finished up an amazing year full of art and creativity.

Many of our volunteers have children moving up into the Middle School next year. That means we need volunteers to help with the committee that plans the projects and setup, as well as volunteers who go into the classroom to teach and assist with the projects.

Don’t want to get in front of the class? No worries, just coming in to lend a hand really helps the cause, and gives you a chance to see your child in the classroom hands on…that joy is priceless.

If you are interested in participating next year, please reach out to Melissa DeSantis (), John Zuzik ( ) or Rachel Wacek () and we can provide you with more information about how you can help.
