Welcome to February! Before you know it, it’ll be Spring! January flew by so fast. We welcomed lots of new friends to our class last month& this month! Welcome new families. We will have a sweetheart party for Valentines Day. If you do Valentines Simply write “ to my friend” or leave it blank and sign your child’s name. ( no nut products).
Our theme is animals. If you have a photo of your pet please send it in with your child and the pets name so we can talk about them. The children know about my animals. I have a cat named Boa but I also have chickens, dogs, turtles and occasionally cows, sheep and turkeys. This month we got four new Barefoot books introduced to us. The songs are so fun to sing.
Our phonics focus will be vowels this month. We will practice identifying the vowels and introduce the songs: The Vowel Song and The Two Vowel Rule. Our colors are purple & pink. Shape: heart. Number 13.
This month’s character education value is Respect. Respect is the ability to recognize and appreciate the rights, beliefs, practices, and differences or other people. Respecting someone means that you value that person for their contributions to society, your community, or the group.
Don’t forget to empty art folders. Put names on jackets. Also check cubby and tadpoles for when your child is low on diapers. Sometimes the only way to communicate is through The tadpoles and little notes because I don’t see everyone personally.
If you are interested to know my schedule rarely changes. I’m here from 8:45- 5:00. Sometimes I am here until 5:45. Other teachers you can speak with who frequently visit this classroom are Ms Nicole and Ms Tiera. Hope you are all doing well.
Miss Ellen

To recognize and respect the difference between self and others; as educators, our responsibility is to introduce children to culture diversity and the importance of its makeup in our country. Children will feel connected to cultures different from their own when they realize the importance of contribution of all people from all cultures.
Parent Activities:
1. Watch What You Say! Using derogatory names for people or cultures that are different teaches intolerance. Find positive ways to refer to others, and model these at home.
2. Research the Origin of Your Child’s Name. Was it passed down from generation to generation?
3. Cultures and Traditions. Discuss with your family what different cultures and traditions your family has. How are they different from your neighbors’ and friends’ cultures and traditions?
Thank you for making our school rock!!
Ms. Nickie, Ms Mel & Mrs. Kari
