Dear Parent/Carer

We have three weeks left until our performance of Kes at the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Tickets are now on sale via the Stephen Joseph Theatre box office and thank you to anyone who has supported the show with placing posters into businesses or purchasing tickets.

Attached is the itinerary for production week. This will take place at the Stephen Joseph Theatre and will include the technical and dress rehearsal. This is a great opportunity for the cast, crew and musicians to rehearse in the space and familiarise themselves with the theatre. All technical and dress rehearsals are notoriously long, and require patience and hard work. To this end, students will need to bring plenty of water to keep themselves hydrated and a good book for those moments when they are waiting for their cues and need to stay quiet. All students will have access to the Green Room during the run.

Could you please read and sign the slip below to confirm you have received this information.

During production week, students spend a lot of time in the theatre. It has been customary in prior Scalby shows to allow students to go into town for lunch unsupervised. If we receive your permission, we will also allow this, however students must keep to the time allocated and not be late back to the theatre. Any student without permission will need to remain in the theatre under the supervision of a member of staff.

On the Monday 1st, Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 4th of February, I would like to run the show in our school hall so students can become used to the structure. To this end I will need to extend the rehearsals till 5.00pm for these dates.

The theatre require adult supervision during the backstage area throughout our time at the theatre. To this end, if any parent or carer has DBS clearance and would be kind enough to give up some time to supervise the backstage area during the dress rehearsals and or the run, please email direct to me as your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

At the beginning of the school year, parent/carers were asked to fill out medical forms. If you have any information that needs updating, could you please fill out another form asap, which is attached to this letter.

This is a challenging and demanding show for all involved. I have been particularly impressed this year with how supportive the students have been towards each other; showing great kindness, using their initiative, leading and organising others. These skills will stand them all in such good stead regardless of what career path they may choose.

I would like to thank you for all your continued support, allowing your son/daughter to attend rehearsals and be part of this experience.

Please complete the reply slip attached and return it to me as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Buric
