Update on Professional Development Awards in Management
As you will be aware, SQA has a suite of Professional Development Awards (PDAs) consisting of current SVQ Management Units. These PDAs are small focused awards (each containing two Units) and are qualifications in their own right or can provide a useful stepping stone to the full SVQ in Management.
I’m pleased to advise you that we have added another PDA to our suite, entitled PDA in Leadership and Management of the Work of Others at SCQF level 7 which consists of two existing SVQ Management Units (ie B6 and D6). It is also confirmed that this PDA, like all other SQA Management qualifications, is jointly certificated by CMI. Candidates registered for this new PDA are therefore eligible for one-year free studying membership of CMI.
Appendix 1 shows our updated suite of PDAs in Management and the Units making up each award.
Streamlined approval process:
A streamlined process for gaining approval for PDAs in Management has been agreed for centres approved to deliver the following SVQs in Management:
¨ SVQ 3 in Management at SCQF level 7 (GC46 23)
¨ SVQ 4 in Management at SCQF level 9 (GC47 24)
¨ SVQ 5 in Management at SCQF level 11 (GC48 25)
In addition, we have included one of the PDAs made up of HN Units – the PDA in Management at SCQF level 6 in this streamlined process. If you are approved for any of the above SVQs in Management and you wish to be approved to offer any of the PDAs in Management outlined in Appendix 1, please tick the relevant box(es) and return to SQA’s Qualification Approval and Verification team ()
Please note that the Units making up the PDAs (with the exception of the level 6 PDA in Management) are current SVQ Management Units, therefore the SVQ Management Assessment Strategy will apply.
