Frequently Asked Questions

Our rebranding journey - from Kids’ Camps to Cahoots

WHAT IS CHANGING?

  • Organisation name

As of the 16th ofFebruary 2017, Kids’ Camps will be trading as Cahoots.

We now provide a broader range of services to children and young adults living with disability. With this in mind, we have spent the past year searching for a new name for the organisation – one that would enable us to continue growing, adapting and diversifying to meet the changing needs of people living with disability. After much discussion in the subcommittee and consultation with stakeholders at different levels throughout Kids’ Camps, we all agreed on a clear favourite – a name that’s so far been universally liked by our teams and sets a suitably positive, upbeat tone for our brand.

Cahoots

We believe this name instantly communicates a sense of fun and excitement, even among people who are uncertain of its literal meaning, which revolves around friendship, collaboration, support and even a little playful mischief.

  • Branding

To align with the name change, we’ll be rebranding completely. Our new brand will mean a new logo as well as a fresh look and feel across our website, social media and all communication/promotional materials. The new Cahoots logo will be upbeat and friendly. This logo will represent playfulness and uninhibited fun and creating a sense of freedom to act silly and enjoy life.

  • Programs and services

This new branding will enable us to provide a wider variety of services for families such as our Social Rec Club, Grads Club as well as community events and inclusion projects. There are countless more opportunities to be explored. This new era for our organisation and the families that we support is exciting and positive!

WHY ARE YOU MAKING THESE CHANGES?

Kids’ Camps has been supporting children with disability, and their families, for over 30 years. During this time the Kids’ Camps name has served our organisation well, but, increasingly, as our services have grown and diversified it was time for a change. We now cater to young adults as well as children, and we focus on provision of more than camps.

In short, we are now camps for kids plus a whole lot more and we need a name that reflects this diversity.

Cahoots instantly communicates a sense of fun and excitement, even among people who are uncertain of its literal meaning, which revolves around friendship, collaboration, support and even a little playful mischief.

Visually, it’s memorable and distinctive. Phonetically, it feels light and celebratory – it’s also easy to say and spell making it accessible to all people.

WILL CAMPS STILL BE AVAILABLE TO MY FAMILY?

Absolutely! Camps for kids and young adults will continue to operate. We hope that moving forward, we can increase both the number of camps we offer and the number of positions available at our camps, so that more and more children have this fun and rewarding opportunity.

WHEN WILL THE CHANGES TAKE PLACE?

We will begin our rebranding in January 2017, with the transition to be completed by December of the same year. The public launch of Cahoots will be the 16th of February 2017.

WHAT ELSE IS CHANGING?

. We listen to the feedback of our members and make changes based on that important information. We strive to deliver the best services we can for our community and work hard to make sure our participants get the most out of the experience. In this sense, our services are always changing, for the better!

The disability services sector is also undergoing a transformation which will see services shift to a more personalised way of delivering supports. Cahoots is introducing new services to help support the needs of families in our community
