Our Journey July 2013 Newsletter

Dear Friends of Our Journey,

Countdown time now begins…just two more months and I will be back in Kenya …YES!!!! So much has happened in a years’ time; three thriving community gardens with women working in the gardens for food for their families, older women owning their own small chicken business and selling eggs to help feed the children they are keeping. Thousands of forgotten children are being fed. Street children, children living at dump sites and displaced peoples camp now own for the first time a pair of shoes and a blanket. Your donations have accomplished all of this…thank you!!!!

The next two months Our Journey will be promoting our blanket and shoe campaign for my upcoming visit in September. Blankets are $13.00 each and a pair of shoes is $5.00. The need is so great, your help would be greatly appreciated; we never have enough for everyone.

This month we are highlighting The Posho Mill Project; we are excited to share with you that we were able to raise all the funds needed to get it started. Congratulations Pastor Julius; he has worked nonstop for the past year with a member of our board of directors to learn how to do his business plan for this project. Check out the pictures below …. It will be up and running for my visit in September and according to his business plan they will show a profit in 3 months. This project will sell its service to the nearby communities to grind their corn and turn it into maize flour and will then be used to make “Ugali”, the main staple food of the country. Pastor Julius will also use the posho mill to grind the corn from our community gardens; the profit will enable them to feed more orphans.

/ Installed - waiting for Kenya Power Company to come hook it up to electricity.
