OUR Credit Union Membership Supports Prom Cause, Donates 250 Gowns!
Prom isn’t cheap. So four years ago 98.7 AMP Radio decided to do something to help out girls who can’t necessarily afford to buy a prom dress. This year OUR Credit Union has partnered with 98.7 AMP Radio’s cleverly coined ‘Gown Town’ by turning three branches into drop off locations for gently worn dresses. By advertising the cause on the station, the community, OUR members and staff alike were invited to bring in their formal dresses to help other girls create a memorable prom. The three hour-long drop-off events brought in over 250 dresses for the cause.
OUR Credit Union gives back to the community in several ways, but this was the first time supporting Gown Town and the positive response has been overwhelming for all. Marketing Director, Jeff Glaser said, “Quite honestly, it kind of tugged at my heart when I read what it was about. They’re giving away dresses to girls who otherwise wouldn’t have them. It made a lot of sense to us not only because it was in Royal Oak, but because it was an opportunity to give back to the community.”
OUR Credit Union staff member, Keely Borawski saw many members coming in to donate dresses and said, “OUR members and staff were so excited to donate the dresses for these girls! I wish we could see the girls’ faces.”
Girls will have the chance to look through hundreds of dressed and find the perfect one for their prom on Sunday, April 6th from 10am – 2pm at the David Pressley School of Cosmetology in Royal Oak.
