Our client, based in Ottawa for over 40 years, offers humidifier design, manufacturing, supply, installation, and maintenance. They are hiring a full time Mechanical Engineer to be a major contributor on their team of in-house humidification experts, production staff, creative marketers, and a dedicated sales team. The new employee will report to the Operations Manager supported by a Senior Engineer and product support staff. The successful candidatewill implement processand documentation for manufacturing existing and new products as well asassume a leadership role in introducing and applying the latest techniques, processes, tooling and machinery to maximize plant throughput.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain manufacturing concepts and manufacturing documentation(change notices, bills of materials, work instructions) for all products.
- Plan and execute process capabilities studies.
- Perform ROI analysis for automation options and improvement projects.
- Analyze operations trends, productivity and other key measures that impact costs.
- Lead process improvement projects like Layout, 5S, Zero defects, root cause analysis.
- Work on inventory and warehousemanagement systems to optimize inventory levels for all planned business.
- Participate in team activities to ensure DFM requirements are achieved for new product launches.
- Provide training to production staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Degree with 5-8 years of related experience. Good knowledge of manufacturing bills of material and manufacturing work instructions.
- Expertise in Continuous Improvement / Kaizen and QIP
- Experience with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) concepts of TQM, TPM, JIT, SMED.
- Industrial Experience with FEA, FMEA, SPC and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Ability to make quality related documents like root cause analysis, 8D, 5 Why, PDCA sheet, Kaizen etc.
- Experience developing jigs, fixtures, mold and dies by using tool design techniques.
- Familiar with the ISO standards (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 50000)
- Applied knowledge of APQP, PDP, PFMEA and GD&T.
- Industrial experience using measurement tools like vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, indicator and probe gauge.
- Competency to imply different Quality and Operations research tools to rectify defects and optimize processes by using PDCA methodology.
- Line Balancing skills using time studies to manage disturbed work load and optimize work force.
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience to design 3D models through drawings and Reverse Engineering Concept.
- Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) experience to fabricate parts through CNC machines by using G-Codes Language.
- Project Management skills to manage a project within specified time by assigning milestone concept and economic Analysis.
- Experience of different manufacturing processes and layouts.
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management, Problem Solving and Analytical Skills, Operations Research, Quality Engineering, Economic Analysis, Data Management and Analysis
