Tolls Bylaw 2017

BY-LAW # 159

A bylaw fixing tolls and other charges payable to the District and the terms of payment thereof, and providing a percentage addition to encourage the prompt payment thereof.

The trustees of Otter Lake Waterworks District enact as follows:

The following tolls are hereby fixed and made payable by all owners of land in the District to which water is delivered from the works of the improvement district:

1.  Base Rate – all ratepayers receiving water will pay an annual base rate of $200.00 (two hundred dollars) per property.

2.  Metered Rates

Charges are as follows for actual usage:

a.  $1.10 (one dollar ten cents) for the first 500 cubic meters.

b.  $1.25 (one dollar twenty-five cents) for the 501 – 1500 cubic meters.

c.  $1.30 (one dollar thirty cents) for 1500 cubic meters or more.

3.  The aforesaid minimum annual toll shall be due and payable on the 2nd day of July and any

Tolls remaining unpaid after the due date shall have added thereto a percentage addition of

three percent (3%) thereof.

4.  The Trustees may, on 24 hours written notice, by resolution, order the water shut off to any premises in which there are any tolls or other charges owing for ninety days or longer from the due date. Water shut off under this section shall be subject to the charges levied under Section six of this bylaw.

5.  The Trustees may by resolution reduce any toll fixed in the preceding clauses in respect of any premises found to have had a leak throughout any period by an amount commensurate with the period the premises had the leak, providing the occupant or owner notifies the Trustees as to the time the leak was fixed and the water charges levied under Section Six of this Bylaw.

6.  In addition to the aforementioned charges, there is a fixed charge and made payable to the District by every owner or occupier of the premises in respect to which a request is made for the water supply turned off, or on the order of the Trustees, that the water be turned off, a charge of $50.00. There is also a fixed charge and made payable to the District by every owner or occupier of the premises in respect to which a request is made that the water be turned on. A charge of $50.00

7.  This Bylaw repeals Bylaw Number 156.

8.  This Bylaw may be cited as the “Otter Lake Waterworks District Tolls Bylaw.”
