OTTAWA HILLS SCHOOL BOARD SUMMARY
At its June 15, 2010, meeting, the Ottawa Hills Board of Education:
- listened to the facilities update report; the district inservice meeting report; and information about the Office of Village Life’s request for a farmers’ market on school grounds on Fridays in July, August, and September;
- approved the minutes of the May 18, 2010, regular meeting and the May 26, June 7, and June 10, 2010, special meetings;
- approved investment and financial reports as presented;
- approved appropriation modifications;
- approved a one-day unpaid leave of absence for Kate Baker;
- employed Matthew Dewire as summer help (custodial), retroactive to June 14, 2010;
- employed Derek Helmke as a regular district support staff (paraprofessional) who works beyond the school year as a substitute or temporary worker;
- employed Heidi O’Connor as a home instruction tutor for the 2009-2010 school year;
- employed individuals in supplemental salary positions for the 2010-2011 school year;
- employed Tina Blosser as a paraprofessional due to a recall from a Reduction in Force (Lay Off), effective August 12, 2010.
- granted a limited contract to Jennifer Pease, full-time teacher, for the 2010-2011 school year;
- approved extended days and extended hours for the 2010-2011 school year;
- waived the first reading and approved Board Policy BCFB, Family and Civic Engagement Committee;
- held the first reading of Board Policy IGBM, Credit Flexibility, and reviewed the regulations;
- held the first reading of Board Policy ECA, Buildings and Grounds Security, and reviewed the regulations;
- held the second reading and approved changes to the 2010-2011 Junior High School Student Handbook and the 2010-2011 Senior High School Student Handbook;
- held the first reading of the changes to the 2010-2011 Elementary School Parent Handbook;
- approved a resolution requesting a one-year waiver for the State of Ohio Credit Flexibility Option;
- approved Bradley Day, Katian Hornbostel, John Wendt, Jack Yark, and Jamie Yark as tuition students for the 2010-2011 school year;
- approved disposal of equipment that is outdated or broken beyond repair;
- approved the Ottawa Hills Schools Budget Assumptions and annual operating appropriations for Fiscal Year 2011; and
- granted limited contracts to part-time teachers Duane Elliott, Susan Gibbs, Pickering Lee, Jill O’Neal, and Cheri Palko for the 2010-2011 school year.
