Many construction employers require their employee to hold a 10 hour OSHA Certificate before being allowed on the job site. This program is designed to enable high school students to obtain this professional certificate while they are still in school. This will enhance your employability and demonstrate your sincere commitment to your career. Safety is critical to your success and health. This program will provide all of the professional overview you need to get started. Because this program is 10 hours these classes will run from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. each evening. / /

Week 1: OSHA INTRODUCTION TO SAFETY

Students will receive a one hour overview of safety. This includes the OSHA Act/General Duty Clause, General Safety and Health provisions, and Recordkeeping. In addition, students will learn about Health Hazards in Construction and Stairways and Ladders. / /

Week 2: OSHA ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Week 4: POWER TOOLS, EXCAVATING AND MATERIALS HANDLING

Students will receive an orientation to Power Tools, Hand Tools, Excavation and Trenching and a session on Materials Handling. They will be told the process for receiving their 10 hour OSHA Certificate and the value of this certificate relative to their job search. / /
