======
************************************************************************
Please follow these steps for the installation of ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager 1.20:
Note: The font size must be set to small fonts in the Windows settings.
************************************************************************
NOTE: For optimal performance of HP OpenView NNM in discovering devices, perform the following steps:
On the root submap of NNM, click on Network Polling configuration of the Options menu. In the window that appears, change the configuration polling interval from 1 day (default setting) to 1 minute.
This is an essential step before the installation in order to enhance the discovery of Access Points (WP-IIs, AP-1000s, and AP-500s) in the ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager software.
************************************************************************
- Make sure HP OV NNM (Network Node Manager) is installed.
- Uninstall any current versions of AP PRO Manager using the Remove programs option in the Control Panel.
- Make sure NNM services (by running “ovstop -v” at the command prompt) and HP OV NNM (Network Node Manager) is not running.
- Make sure that Tcl/tk (v8.04 or above) is installed. If not, Tcl/tk Version 8.05 bundled with this package will be installed.
- Install ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager by double-clicking on executable. This is a self-extracting exe. Choose the directory path where you want to install ORiNOCO AP Pro Manager. The default directory path is:
C:\Program files\Orinoco\ap pro manager\
NOTE: If Tcl/Tk is not installed on your machine, the installation detects this and automatically begins the installation of Tcl/Tk as a separate process. It is advisable to complete the Tcl installation before continuing with installation of ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager.
- Environment Variable
======
If a warning message appears during the installation, the automatic update of the Path variable has not been successful. Please perform the following steps in order to update the PATH variable manually:
The "PATH" environment variable needs to be updated with the following information:
PATH = <Drive>:\<Tcl/tk path>\bin;
<Drive>:\<ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager path>\bin;
Where <Drive> represents the disk drive.
Where <Tcl/tk path> represents the path where Tcl/tk is installed.
Where < ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager path> represents the path where ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager is installed.
Reboot the machine after modifying the PATH variable.
- If a warning message appears during the installation, the automatic update of the oid_to_sym file in the directoryOpenView-path>\conf\ has not been successful. Please perform the following steps in order to update the same manually:
Add the following line to oid_to_sym file which can be found in the directory <OpenView-path>\conf\
Where <OpenView-path> represents the path where HP OpenView is installed.
1.3.6.1.4.1.762.2:Connector: WavePOINT-II # Agere WavePOINT-II bridge
======*IMPORTANT*======
NOTE: The above operation should be done BEFORE the NNM discovers the Access Points (WP-IIs, AP-1000s, and AP-500s). If this line is added after the autodiscovery, the Access Points will be recognized as bridges and NOT as Access Points. If the above scenario occurs, then you will need to follow the given procedure for each Access Point in the network.
a) Find the Access Point in the NNM submap.
i) Double click on internet to get the NNM submap.
ii) Click on Edit -> Find -> Object by attribute
iii) Enter IP address of the Access Point. Select "exact match" in Type of search .
iv) Double-click on the entry which is not part the ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager submap.
v) A submap appears.
b) In the submap that appears select the Access Point (it is most likely to be displayed as a bridge).
c) Right click. Select Change symbol type. Select symbol class connector and subsymbol class "WavePOINT-II". Click OK.
Repeat the above procedure for other Access Points.
If required close the NNM and reopen it after step 11.
Then check the ORiNOCO AP PRO Manager map.
======
- Start NNM services by running the command “ovstart –v” at the command prompt if the services are not already running.
- From the command prompt run "ovw -fields" so that all the fields connected to ORiNOCO AP Pro Manager are registered by the NNM and the NNM database is updated.
- Restart HP OV NNM.
