DIRECTIONS: Park at the car park in front of the Easterbrook Hall. Entries and the start and finish will be nearby.

COURSE DETAILS:

COURSE / NOMINAL LENGTH / CONTROLS / DESCRIPTION
Yellow + / 2.0 km / 16 / Easy, little route choice, short distance between controls.
Orange + / 4.4 km / 17 / Intermediate, some route choice, variable leg length, many changes of direction.
Long Orange / 5.9 km / 22 / As Orange + above, some longer legs, in two parts with map exchange.

A NOTE ON COURSE LENGTHS: For those not familiar with orienteering, the nominal course lengths given above are the straight line distances between controls. Optimum routes between controls are going to include going around buildings, hedges, thickets, etc., so the actual distance run will be greater - and that is before any navigation errors or bad route choice decisions are made.

ENTRIES: Pre-marked course maps will be used. It would be useful if we had an indication of numbers expecting to enter so that enough maps will be available and we don’t print too many extras. Please give your name and which course you wish to run by Friday 22nd April to Dougie Brown or the organiser below.

ENTRY FEES: Enter as an individual or in pairs. One map each £2 per person. Pay at event.

START TIMES: At 1 or 2 minute intervals from 6 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. If you can start early please do so to avoid finishing in the dark!

SPORTident electronic punching will be used for this event. Each competitor and pair will be issued with a special 'SI-card' (also known as a 'dibber', 'chip' or ‘peg’) to record their time at the start and finish and at each control. Instruction will be given at the event to those unfamiliar with this system.
