ORIENTATION FOR INTERNET (ONLINE) MACROECONOMICS EC 102

In order to succeed in an internet course you should know how to connect to the internet; and be able to use a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. You must have an e-mail account; and be able to send and receive e-mails along with attachments; print documents; save and send documents. It is assumed that you can use a computer for the duration of the course. The Eduspace System Requirements are listed on page #5 in the Eduspace Getting Started Guide for Students. The entire course is in Eduspace which is powered by blackboard. This course is NOT part of ErieCommunity College’s Angel System. To get into Eduspace the first step is to register.

I. REGISTERING

Registering into Eduspace for Macroeconomics 6th edition by Boyes & Melvin. Go to the Eduspace website choose to register. Once the page opens follow the on-screen directions and then click the create account button. You will need 2 codes to register.

2. Your student code to create your personal Eduspace account is located on the last page of the Eduspace Getting Started Guide for Students. If you need additional information on registering it is located on page #7 in the Eduspace Getting Started Guide for Students.

*** You will only need to register once. When you have registered and enrolled in your course, you’ll automatically be logged into Eduspace. To access Eduspace in the future you will need to login each time.

II. LOGINING INTO YOUR PERSONAL EDUSPACE ACCOUNT

Go to the Eduspace website and choose login. Enter the username and password you selected when you registered into Eduspace. You will brought to the my Eduspace home page.

NAVIGATING IN EDUSPACE

Course Home is the first page you see when you enter your course. The left side of the page has six buttons linking to the different areas of the course.

1. Course Home: This link returns you to the Course Home page.

2. Course Policies: This area will contain the course syllabus, which contains office hours, course objectives, grading policies, and the course outline. The outline will give all the dates the 8 assignments are due, and when the exams are available and due.

Please send all 8 assignments to do NOT use the digital drop box in Eduspace.

3. Course Materials: This area contains all the content of the course. Chapter outlines, assignments, and exams. Please send all 8 assignments to my e-mail address . Remember once you log on to take an exam you will only have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the exam, the time begins once you enter the password and log on to the exam. You will only be given one attempt for each exam. I will give you the password for each exam the week before the exam becomes available to access under announcements.

4. Tutoring: The tutoring area provides a direct link to SMARTHINKING online tutoring services.

5. Communication: This area will contain announcements.

6. Course Tools: This area allows you to check your grades.

The textbook is Macroeconomics 6th edition by: Boyes & Melvin, The Eduspace Getting Started Guide for Students in packaged along with the text. You must have The Eduspace Getting Started Guide in order to access Houghton Mifflin’s Online Material and the material I have built for the course. It is powered by blackboard. I have also asked the book store to order The Eduspace Getting Started Guide for Students separately, for students who may already have the text or want to purchase a used textbook.
