ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF HADDON, COUNTY OF CAMDEN AND STATE OF NEW JERSEY AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION BY GIFT OF CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM GEORGE AND BETTY BAND
WHEREAS, the Township of Haddon (“Township”) is a municipal entity organized under the laws of the State of New Jersey and located in the County of Camden; and
WHEREAS, George and Betty Band (“Bands”) are the owners of certain property located within the Township, known as Block 11.01, Lots 19 & 35 on the Official Tax Map of the Township of Haddon; and
WHEREAS, the Bands desire to donate the aforesaid property to the Township for preservation as open space and in recognition of the memory of George Band’s father; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey encourages municipalities to increase their inventory of permanently preserved open space; and
WHEREAS, municipalities are vested with the authority to acquire real property by gift pursuant to the Local Lands and Buildings Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:12-5; and
WHEREAS, for the reasons set forth above, the Governing Body has determined that it is in the best interests of the Township to accept this generous gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Commissioners of the Township of Haddon, County of Camden, State of New Jersey that the acquisition by way of gift of the property know as Block 11.01, Lots 19 & 35 from George and Betty Band is hereby authorized; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Mayor of the Township of Haddon and the Township Clerk be and hereby are authorized to execute all documents necessary to implement said transaction on behalf of the Township of Haddon.

The foregoing Ordinance was introduced by the Mayor and Commissioners at the regular meeting held on August 24, 2010. This Ordinance will be considered for adoption on final reading and public hearing to be held on September 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room, Haddon Township Municipal Building, 135 Haddon Avenue, Westmont, New Jersey.
The purpose of this Ordinance is to approve the acquisition by gift of certain land by the Township of Haddon from George and Betty Band. A copy of this Ordinance is available at no charge to the general public between the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (Legal Holidays excluded), at the Office of the Township Clerk, Haddon Township Municipal Building, 135 Haddon Avenue, Westmont, New Jersey.
