Order of the Squires

Of the Round Table

Mountain Home Manor

Name of Manor: This Manor, under Charter from the State of Idaho, Order of DeMolay, known as Mountain Home Manor of the Order of the Squires of the Round Table, shall be governed first by the Statutes of the Order of DeMolay, then by the following By-Laws:

ARTICLE I

Meetings

Section 1. The stated meetings of the Manor shall be held at the Masonic Hall, 320 N. 8th E. Street, Mountain Home, Idaho, on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, at 6:00 p.m.; provided, that with the consent of the Sir Knight, meetings may be held elsewhere if notice thereof is given by phone, mail, or in person to each member not less than two (2) days in advance of the date of such meeting.

Section 2. The first meeting of the month will be a stated meeting for the conduct of business. The second meeting will be a called meeting for purpose of ritual or degree work.

ARTICLE II

Fees

The one-time initiation fee for this Manor shall be $10.00 dollars, and must accompany the petition.

ARTICLE III

Term of Office

Section 1. The Master Squire, Senior Squire, and Junior Squire of the Manor shall be elected on or by the 1st Thursday of May, and on or by the 1st Thursday of November of each year, their terms running concurrent with that of the Mountain Home DeMolay.

Eligibility

Section 2.

(a) No member shall be eligible to election as Master Squire until he shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Sir Knight and/or advisors, his ability to open and close the Manor.

(b) No member shall be eligible to election as Senior Squire or Junior Squire until he shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Sir Knight or Mom/Dad Advisor his ability to perform the Induction Ceremony.

Duties of Master Squire

Section 3. The Master Squire shall have the following duties:

(a) He shall meet regularly with all committees appointed by himself, and require a written report of each committee's activities to be read at stated meetings and filed with the Recorder.

(b) He shall, at the first stated meeting following his installation present a written outline of his program of work for his term of office, Obligatory Observances, and other basic and supplementary activities of the Manor. This program, however, may be enlarged or amended from time to time, with the approval of the Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor.

(c) He shall confine his efforts as Master Squire largely to the promotion of peace and harmony among the members and to the promotion of those activities which build a Manor.

(d) It is not expected of the Master Squire, except under unusual circumstances, and at the discretion of the Sir Knight, that he shall confer or participate in the conferring of any degree; but that the degrees shall be conferred as provided in Sections 5 and 6 of this Article.

Duties of Senior Squire

Section 4. In addition to the general duties recorderd in the ritual and the Statutes, the Senior Squire shall have the following duties:

(a) He shall have charge of conferring the Induction Degree, and shall act as Master Squire therein.

(b) He shall be Chairman of the Entertainment Committee, and at the discretion of the Master Squire may appoint his own committee for such work.

Duties of Junior Squire

Section 5. In addition to the general duties recorderd in the ritual, the Junior Squire shall have the following duties:

(a) He shall work with the Senior Squire in conferring the Induction Degree.

(b) He shall be responsible for coaching of all candidates in the obligations in the queries of a Squire, and the customs and decorum of a Manor.

(c) He shall be Chairman of the Refreshment Committee, and at the discretion of the Master Squire may appoint his own committee for such work. He may also require that candidates and members do the kitchen police work until they qualify for their Obligation Card.

(d) He shall be actively in charge of all work of the Members and see that they are proficient in their duties.

Duties of the Marshal

Section 6. In addition to the general duties recorderd in the ritual, the Marshal shall accommodate and introduce visitors.

Duties of Chaplain

Section 7. In addition to the general duties recorderd in the ritual, the Chaplain shall act as Chaplain at all dinners and other public appearances when required by the Master Squire.

Advancement of Officers

Section 8. No officer, elective or appointive, shall be eligible for advancement if he shall fail or neglect to perform the duties of the offices already held; except that he may be excused therefrom by the Master Squire, Sir Knight, and/or Mom/Dad advisor for sickness or other good cause.

Officers' Meetings

Section 9. The Squires Officers shall meet regularly with the Sir Knight prior to each stated meeting to discuss and plan that meeting and other Manor activities. Any member may attend these Officers' Meetings.

ARTICLE IV

Checking and Savings Accounts

Section 1. This Manor shall establish and maintain one or more approved bank (or savings and loan associations) accounts, to wit:

(a) A checking account for current expenses of the Manor.

(b) A savings account designated the Reserve Fund, as a general savings account drawing interest until actually needed by the Manor.

Signatures

Section 2. The signature of at least one Mom/Dad Advisor shall be required for each withdrawal from any of the accounts provided for in this Article, as designated on signature cards of the depository.

ARTICLE V

Amusements

Section 1. No amusement or activity shall be held until plans are submitted to and approved by the Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor.

Section 2. A full and final accounting shall be had of all tickets and money for the amusement, and the ticket or the price thereof must be in the hands of the Recorder preceding the amusement. Any member failing so to account for any tickets and/or money shall be deemed guilty of un-Squire-like conduct, and subject to suspension or expulsion.

ARTICLE VI

Obligations

Section 1. It shall be the duty of the Master Squire to see that the provisions of the "Obligation Card" are strictly enforced.

Section 2. A member who does not present himself as proficient in the Obligation within a period of six (6) months shall be placed in an inactive category and shall be so reported to the Sponsoring Chapter. Candidates in this category shall not be eligible to receive a Patent.

Section 3. The Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor may, under unusual circumstances or for a special Class, waive temporarily the requirements of Section 2 of this Article.

ARTICLE VII

Manor Purchases

Section 1. No person shall make any purchases for or on account of the Manor without first obtaining authorization therefore from the Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor.

Section 2. No Manor money shall be expended for any purpose not authorized by the Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor.

Obligatory Observances

Section 1. The Manor will have four Obligatory Days.

(a)During the month of March Truth and Justice Day.

(b)Between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Parent’s Day shall observed with a special ceremony or observance.

(c)During the month of September, Wisdom Day.

(d)And in December, Sharing and Caring Day.

Section 2 Observance of all Obligatory Days are made mandatory on all members of the Manor unless prevented by unavoidable circumstances.

ARTICLE VIII

Powers of Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor.

Section 1. The Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor shall have the power, under emergency conditions, to waive or modify temporarily the requirements of these By-Laws insofar as they pertain to qualifications and/or duties of officers.

Section 2. The Sir Knight and Mom/Dad Advisor shall govern the activities of the Manor and make such regulations as are necessary or desirable for operation and maintenance of this Manor, insofar as it does not conflict with Statutes of the Supreme Council, or the orders or edicts of the Executive Officer.

ARTICLE IX

Amendments

Section 1. Any action of the sponsering DeMolay body which may affect or alter the By-Laws of this Manor thereby amends these By-Laws.

Section 2. These By-Laws may be amended by the Advisory Council with approval of the Sponsoring DeMolay Chapter and State Executive Officer.

Signature of Members

Section 3. Every member of this Manor shall sign these By-Laws and consent to be governed thereby.
