Ha-Kin-Skay-A-Ki Lodge 387

Pikes Peak Council, Colorado Springs, CO 80907

Dear OA Candidate,

Congratulations on your election into the Order of the Arrow. You and your parents should be proud of this accomplishment. The next step to becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow is for you to participate in our Ordeal Weekend and Ceremony. I can tell you that it is not an initiation and it’s not a religious ritual. Hazing is not permitted and you will not be harassed during the weekend. You will be asked to work with the other members of the Order of the Arrow in the important job of maintaining our beautiful Camp Alexander and Glen Aspen Ranch. Your candidacy will expire one year from the date of your election, not from your callout! If you do not attend one of the two weekends listed below, you must be re-elected the following year at your unit’s election.

You must pre-register for the weekend and pre-pay the $50.00 fee which covers your food for the weekend, your Ordeal Order of the Arrow Sash, an Order of the Arrow Handbook, a Lodge Flap for your uniform pocket and your dues for the remainder of the 2018 dues year, ending Dec 31, 2018 and 2019 dues for the year ending Dec 31, 2019.

See the reverse side of this letter for more details as to arrival and what to bring.

The ceremonies are not open to the public. Parents wanting more information about the ceremonies should contact . We understand that personal, family and religious obligations may require you to depart on Saturday night after the ceremonies however we will have activities on Saturday evening for all members. Parents who need to take their sons home on Saturday night should arrive at camp about 9:00pm to avoid a long wait at the Elks Lodge for the Celebration Banquet to end. We have a trading post, where you can purchase additional Lodge Flaps and other Order of the Arrow merchandise. This will be the only spending money needed for the weekend.

Please do not miss this opportunity to enhance your scouting experience. Deadline to sign up for the weekend is the close of business on dates listed below. You can sign up online by visiting the OA Website or the specific event date on the Council calendar. BE SURE TO SELECT THE “NON-MEMBER/CANDIDATE” OPTION WITH THE FEE OF $50.00. You can also mail the bottom portions of this form to: Council Activity Center, 985 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. The council refund policy applies to OA Registrations. If cancellation letter is received at the Council Office before the Registration Deadline listed below, a full refund is possible. Glen Aspen Service – The goal of the Order of the Arrow is to provide service to the council. Now that the Pikes Peak Council has 2 properties, we want to be able to provide service at both locations. To accomplish this we will be transporting 20 to 30 Candidates and some members down to the Glen Aspen Ranch, at 11050 Loy Creek Rd, outside Woodland Park. We will have a medic on the property and we will provide transportation to and from Glen Aspen. On the reverse side of the form we offer parents the opportunity to opt your son out of this location. We will confirm with all parents at check-in if their son will be spending the night and working on Saturday at Glen Aspen. If you have any questions, you can contact the Lodge Adviser for more information.
