ORAL TEXT RESPONSE SAC

MACBETH

Your oral presentation, based on one of the topics below, should be 4 minutes in length and you should make references to the play where appropriate. If you chose a creative task, you will need to provide your audience with an explanation to set the scene.

Note: If you are choosing a group presentation, be aware that each member receives an individual mark and therefore needs to have an equal amount of speaking time (4 minutes each.)

TOPICS

1.  After Malcolm is finally made King of Scotland, Macduff reflects on the reign of Macbeth. (Solo)

2.  Hecate and the three witches meet following Macbeth’s death. What do they say? (Group/Solo)

3.  In the final days of her life, Lady Macbeth reflects on the way things have turned out for her and her husband’s vaulting ambition. (Solo)

4.  Imagine that Macbeth or Lady Macbeth is brought to trial in a modern courtroom. Work out what he or she would be charged with. You may then choose to depict one of the following:

·  The prosecution lawyer’s summation

·  The defence lawyer’s summation

·  The Judge’s verdict and speech when sentencing. (Group/Solo)

5.  Select a specific scene from the play and analyse it in detail. (Solo). Your presentation will cover the following:

·  An explanation of what happens in the scene and its importance to the plot

·  An explanation of what this scene adds to our understanding of the characters and themes

·  A comment on the key quotes from the scene

·  A explanation of the symbols Shakespeare uses in this scene

·  A comment on this scene’s thematic links to other important moments in the play

·  A comment on the writing style and structure of the scene
