Oracle Academy Delivers Teacher Training Event In China

41 Teachers from China Participate in Intensive Professional Development Program

  • Oracle welcomed 41 teachers to its Oracle Academy Institute, held at the Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology, Jinan, China from August 18-23, 2008.
  • The Oracle Academy Institute is an intensive professional development program that prepares faculty to teach the Oracle Academy's technology and business curriculum.
  • The curriculum focuses on database design and programming skills, and is delivered over two semesters in high schools, colleges, and vocational schools globally.
  • To prepare for this live training event, teachers completed 40 hours of online coursework, quizzes, and weekly discussions with an Oracle Academy mentor.
  • These teachers will now work face-to-face with their Oracle Academy instructors over the next six days. At the conclusion of the training, teachers will demonstrate their readiness to teach the Academy curriculum by completing a class project and passing an exam.
  • This event is designed to support the continued growth of the Oracle Academy in Asia Pacific. Currently, over 245,000 students from more than 1,200 educational institutions across Asia Pacific benefit from their participation in the Oracle Academy.
  • This is the second Oracle Academy Institute of 2008 in China. The Oracle Academy Institute in Shanghai, held this past January, included 49 teachers from 22 schools and 17 cities across the nation.
