I acknowledge that becoming a foster means I am an ambassador for Open Wings Rescue & Sanctuary, and will conduct myself professionally when acting in this capacity. I am aware that I am completely responsible for the bird’s well being while in my care. I understand that a rescue officer must approve any veterinarian visits. This can be arranged through my sponsor. As a foster I shall maintain a diary of the bird/s containing recognized behaviors, traits, quirks, diet, etc. These details along with current photos shall be made available to the administrative officer upon request.

Once a bird is selected for an adoption process, I will be contacted and may be required to arrange a meeting between the potential adopter and the bird. Sometimes this may require me to transport the bird to an agreed upon location. During this meeting I may be expected to evaluate the behaviors and make a judgmental decision on whether or not it is a good match and report this to my sponsor. At no time shall the adopter be permitted to take the bird unless previously arranged and approved by an OWR&S Officer.

As a foster, I agree to make all possible efforts to advertise the rescue, and the bird/s under my care. This may entail communicating on social media sites, attending adoption events, bird shows, and Parrot awareness meetings that are arranged by OWR&S.

I also acknowledge that Open Wings Rescue & Sanctuary is in way to be held liable for any foster that does not work out for any reason. I understand and agree that I may be fostering a bird with possible behavioral issues, medical issues, loud screaming, or other situations that are beyond their control, and may have been unaware of. Parrots can develop issues that they did not have prior to entering the rescue. If for any reason I decide the fostering of a bird is not going to work out, I shall contact my sponsor and arrange for the bird to be returned to the rescue.
