Oops ,I almost forgot my newsletter, what with the Memorial weekend, my buying a new car, ete. but here it is for what it is worth.

Anyone want totalk about the weather? Well maybe we shouldn’t as we have all had enough RAIN and it looks as though some sunny summer days are ahead. Sorry we did not get a spring though.

May was highlighted by the finalization of the dry water bed flowing from the new “Welcome Sign”. This was a project spearheaded by Carly Bratton and I want to thank him for his efforts. It looks great. The board of directors sent me a note as asked that I post it thanking those who helped:

Dear Knolls Estates Homeowners,

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who helped mulch around the sign this Saturday. Your"

neighbors who helped included David Hilton, Carly Bratton, Jody Perkins, Elva Oylear, Donna Pagel, Russ

Mock, Jane Fullerton, Tom Nielsen and Monica Walt Duran. Carly, of course, supervised the work

crew, which led Russ Mock to attempt to unionize the group when Carly left for additional work

materials. Carly's supervisory motto is, "Never listen to your workers", and he stayed true to this motto.

Donna Pagel banned all discussion of politics or religion, which prevented any neighbor upon neighbor

attacks with garden tools. Sadly, we did have some injuries - a tumble into a rock and a cut finger - both

of which were incurred by Jody Perkins. We wish her a speedy recovery. We still have rocks to lay in

the cut out dry stream bed, but, all in all, the mulch is a great improvement. We also need to mulch

around the trees that were planted this fall, so expect another email announcing another work group.

This is a great way to get to know your neighbors, and to have a bit of fun. We hope you join us for the

next work group.

The Board of Directors

We a have new neighbors who moved into the home at lot # 44 2295 Sandpiper. George and Angie Lavalley are the new owners and they bring a 6 year old son with them. Welcome Lavalleys

The home at 2250 Eagle Loop, previously owned by the Heards has been purchased. No information as to who they are or when they will take possession.

Turning to the Web Site I would like to call to your attention some additions and changes:

HISTORY AND LOCATION

I have added a 6 page “Points of Interest in Sutherlin” sheet the the Visitors Center has produced. I think you will find it interesting to see how much there is to do in our town

CALENDAR:: Please not some additions to what is going on here in our area. I want to highlight the upcoming Garage Sale on June 24th and 25th I am sure that you have seen the bright neon florescence signs near the new Welcome sign reminding all of you that plan to participate to start getting ready. You may recall last years 1st annual was a total success with over 25 homes participating.. Let’s break that record this year.

FINANCE: I am posting the quarterly cash flow report that was read at the last board meeting.

SUTHERLIN AREA COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

I have updated the annual calendar of events happening in Sutherlin this calendar year as well as post a flyer regarding the Museum Social/ Auction.

Also, I have posted a “THINGS TO DO IN SUTHERLIN” developed by the local visitor center personnel. I think you will be amazed at how much there is to do here in our community.

The mowing of the common grounds is under way with both Forrest and Cody Stone manning mowers and cutting through the long grass. It is starting to look really good

Now, last but not least is the saga of the “missing peach tree” that we need your help on. About 2 weeks ago Russ Mock called me to report that someone had removed a 6 foot peach tree from his patio that his son Shawn had given Dana for mother’s day. Naturally, it was still wrapped in canvas and ready for planting. Since Russ reported this to me he has discovered that the culprit may live withen his own household. Betty Perkins reported that she saw Babe, Dana’s aunt that lives with them packing the tree down Culver Loop from the Mocks house and up Divot Loop one morning. She did not see how far Babe went, but she obviously dropped it somewhere and either someone picked it up or she tossed it out into the brush. Russ has placed a $5.00 reward to anyone who can shed some light on the whereabouts of his peach tree. Maybe some of the local youngsters would like to go on a “Peach Tree Hunt” and try and locate this tree. Dana is very emotional about all of this and had to go to Arizona this weekend to get her composure back . Please help the Mock’s out
