ONTARIO PINTO AWARDS POLICY – REVISED 2014
GENERAL POLICY
- To be eligible for year-end awards, the owner of an open horse and the rider of the Youth/Amateur horse must be a OPtHA member.
- Awards will be given in only those classes that run at fifty percent (50%) of the OPtHA shows.
- A horse must show at fifty percent (50%) of the shows in order to be eligible for an OPtHA year end award for that class. Exception: Walk/Jog and Leadline – no minimum judge requirement.
- Youth and Amateur awards are awarded on a one horse, one exhibitor basis. Youth are allowed to a change of horses at one time during the year; however the Youth must complete the year on the substituted horse.
- The Youth/Amateur does not have to own the horses he or she exhibits in accordance with PtHA rules. A PtHA lease must be presented with show entries if the Youth/Amateur does not own the horse he/she exhibits.
- Points to be awarded relative to the number of horses in the class up to a maximum of six points: eg: 6 or more entries – 6,5,4,3,2,1 respectively – three (3) entries – 3,2,1 point respectively. All horses finishing 1st or 2nd in their halter class are eligible for Grand and Reserve. Points will be to all Grand and Reserve Champion horses – 4 points for Grand and 3 points for Reserve.
INDIVIDUAL CLASS AWARDS:
- A “Grand Champion” and “Reserve Champion” title designation shall be given in each class as eligible in the general policy and will be listed on a year-end Award/Certificate.
PERPETUAL AWARDS:
Perpetual Awards are owned by the OPtHA. The winners will keep awards until October 30th of the year awarded. Each recipient is responsible for the trophy, which is to be returned in the condition received. Costs for repairs may be the responsibility of the recipient. If not returned, the winner will be charged the current replacement value. Non-payment will result in suspension of Ontario Pinto showing and membership privileges.
Youth Activity Classes – Perpetual High Point
- Perpetual High Point Performance Youth award will include Showmanship and Performance classes (not games, Color or Halter).
- Perpetual High Point Games award will include points earned in games classes only
- Perpetual High Point Overall award will include Halter, Color, Showmanship, Performance classes and Games classes.
- Perpetual High Point 13 and under Youth award will be awarded to the Youth aged 13 and under (as of January 1st) who earns the most points in Halter, Color, Showmanship, Performance classes and Games classes.
- Perpetual High Point 14 to 18 Youth award will be awarded to the Youth aged 14 to 18 (as of January 1st) who earn the most points in Halter, Color, Showmanship, Performance classes and Games classes.
Amateur Activity Classes – Perpetual High Point
- Perpetual High Point Amateur award will include points earned in Halter, showmanship, performance and games class.
- Perpetual High Point Performance Amateur award will include points earned in Showmanship, performance. (not games or Halter)
Open Activity Classes – Perpetual High Points
- Perpetual High Point Halter Horse award will include points earned in both halter and color class.
- Perpetual High Point Junior Horse award will include points earned in halter, color and all performance and games class.
- Perpetual High Point Games Horse award will include points earned in games classes only.
- Perpetual High Point Performance Horse award will include points earned in performance classes only (not halter, color or games class).
- Perpetual High Point Halter & Performance Horse award will include points earned in halter, color and performance classes only (not games class).
- Perpetual High Point Overall Horse award will include points earned in halter, color, performance and games classes.
Performance Class Definition – Perpetual Awards
- Class points will be calculated for the perpetual award if the class is offered within that division only. Please note OPtHA defines performance classes differently than American PtHA.
