  1. Students need to place their backpacks/purses in the front of the room.
  2. If a student brought lunch from home, it needs to be placed on the teacher’s desk.
  3. Read the cell phone policy to all of the students. All students need to sign the policy. Collect student cell phones and the cell phone agreements. Be sure the students use a Post-it® note to label the phones or wrap the phones in paper with the student’s name written on the outside of the paper.
  4. Distribute pencils and scratch paper to all students.
  5. For 8thgrade math, distribute calculators to all students.
  6. STAAR A and STAAR L have a text-to-speech read aloud feature; therefore, distribute headphones to all students testing.
  7. Ask students to power up the computer.
  8. Direct students to the STAAR testing app. All students must have the STAAR testing app before testing can begin.
  9. Distribute one testing ticket to each student. Please be sure that the name on the testing ticket matches the name on the student ID.
  10. Read the test directions from the test administrator manual. The test directions begin on page 59 for online test administrations.
  11. Set a timer that can be projected on a screen in your classroom. Set the timer to 4 hours and start the timer.
  12. Complete the attendance roster and seating chart and post it on the outside of your door. Note: Record the start time on the seating chart.
  13. All attendance should be posted by ______. Mark only absent students.
  14. Students arriving after ______will test in the late arrival room. The designated late arrival room is room ______.
  15. Post the Testing: Do Not Disturb sign on your door
  16. Collect student testing tickets after they have completed the log in process. Student testing tickets are secure documents.
■■ For students who were absent from the test, store their unused test tickets in locked storage. Students can use these test tickets during makeup testing.
■■ Student test tickets and any reference materials, scratch paper, or graph paper used during testing must be returned to the campus testing coordinator after the test session.
  17. Actively monitor students as they test.
  18. Post the second attendance roster for your testing session at ______. This is the official roster for ADA attendance. Please only record the students who are absent.
  19. Lunch will be placed outside your classroom door. Lunch will be from ______. Pause the online stopwatch during lunch. Record the lunch start/stop times on your roster.
  20. Students taking an online test should pause their tests for breaks. To pause the test, students click the pause option. The test administrator should provide assistance for students who need help pausing their tests. To resume a test, students should be instructed to click resume on the pause screen. If a test is paused for more than 30 minutes, the student will automatically be logged out. To resume testing, the student must log back-in using the original student test ticket.
  21. At ______all rooms will resume testing.
  22. When students are finished, they need to alert the test administrator.
  23. Test administrators should remind students that they should not click the “submit” nor “end test” options until they have finished the test. Once a test is submitted, it cannot be restarted by the test administrator. Once a student has submitted a test, the student will no longer be active in the test session and cannot access the test with his or her student test ticket. On the “review/end page” of the test, click “end test.” Check the box next to “I understand I cannot return to the test.” Select the “submit” and “end test” option.
  24. When students have successfully submitted the test, the students will power down. Students are not allowed to use desktop or laptop computers, or any tablet, phone or electronic device after the test has been submitted.
  25. Students who cannot finish their tests due to illness or a testing irregularity should not click the “submit” nor “end test” options. Instead, the student should “log out” of the test. Please contact Ms./Mr. ______if a student is ill and cannot finish the exam.
  26. When all students have submitted the exam electronically, collect all testing materials (scratch paper, calculators, testing tickets, pencils, erasers, seating chart, cell phone contracts, and testing signs) and prepare to return the materials to room ______.
