One to one tuition

JOB TITLE:One to one tutor

GRADE:Tuition rate £ 24 per hour, or as determined by the supply agency. Tutors operating during the school day employed as a teacher by the Governing Body, paid according to contracted pay scale; outside of the school day treat as out of school hours learning activity, paid at tutor rate.

RESPONSIBLE TO:Head teacher

JOB PURPOSE:To raise levels of attainment in English or Mathematics, through delivery of the pupil’s Individual Tutoring Plan, ensuring pupils reflect on progress made towards the learning objective, the strategies used, and how the skills and knowledge can be applied back in the classroom.

Hours of work will be Tuesday and Friday 0825 – 1430; with 5 one hour teaching blocks on each day making a total of ten hours work per week, commencing September 11th through to December 21st 2017 in the initial term. One hour of preparation time per week will also be included.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Working with reference to the Tuition Handbook for Tutors (DSCF-01066-2009)

2. Produce appropriate work to suit the improvements expected on the identified weak areas passed on by the students’ mathematics teacher. This work being kept in a folder in an agreed format with the head of mathematics

3. Produce suitable initial assessments and final assessments to allow a suitable measure of progress to be made; these assessments being agreed with the head of mathematics.

4. Provide 10 hours of tutoring sessions with the pupils identified.

5. Liaise with the class teacher during the tuition

6. Liaise with parents during tuition

7. Provide feedback to class teacher to review progress / ITP at the end of the tuition period and agree next steps (within 2 weeks of completing tutoring)

8. Keep a register of attendance and organise the rota for students to follow; and keep all necessary staff informed of when students will be missing their lessons by sending this rota out to staff on a weekly basis.

9. Participate in training, as required
